Matthew 8:15 So He touched her hand, and the fever left her. And she arose and served them.

Our natural response is to serve. When we receive a touch from God, our natural response is to serve. What breaks my heart is when I see God touching people's lives and they reject the miracle He is offering them. It is like they shrug off His touch, "I don't need You. I'll take the free hand out, but don't expect anything from me."

God doesn't require anything from us, but He should receive a grateful response. He should be acknowledged for what He has done. He should be served and our willingness to serve others as a response to His touch upon our life.

My heart breaks for those who don't even realize they are using God. They take and take and take, but they do not respond with a grateful heart. They don't serve God because they don't understand true service to God is building relationships with His people. Serving God isn't your personal time with Him, Bible reading, prayer or worship. You do those to build your side of your relationship with God. Serving God is building relationships with God's people.

Peter's wife's mother didn't get up and serve Him. She got up and served them. When you received a touch from the God, did you serve Him or them? How? How many people did you build relationship with within God's family that they would call you when crisis hits or they want you to celebrate with them because of what God has done in their life? This number is your answer.

When we serve the body of Christ, we build relationship. When we build relationship, we strengthen His kingdom. This kind of service is sacrificial. You and I will have to lay down our selfishness and learn to take the time to invest in people; listening, praying, listening and praying. It will cost you time. Relationships take time. Serving God is investing in people, which comes from people who have received God's touch. A person who has received God's touch serve God's people through building relationship.

Many have been touched by God, but not many have received God's touch. The evidence is in the sacrifice it takes to build relationship with God's people.

My Father in heaven, hallowed be Your Name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Thank You for reaching down to take my hand. I have received Your touch. I treasure every opportunity to invest into someone's life. Even when other's may reject the relationship I offer, I continue to look for those who will engage in a relationship. I know there will come a time when people need to have someone that will listen and pray with them and for them. Your touch compels me to be relational with Your people. I will make the time to build relationships with Your people in Jesus' Name, amen.
