Luke 24:44-49 (NKJV) Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high.”

Why do we need Him? This question is referring to the Holy Spirit. As my husband says, "The Holy Spirit is the unsung hero of the Trinity." I grew up in the church but I do not remember a single time being taught about the Holy Spirit. Completely ironic considering He is the gift Jesus tells us to ask for and says the Father will give if we ask. Since Jesus said to ask, why wouldn't we think having the Holy Spirit in our life as important.

Why do we need Him? Why would we not? When Jesus was the on earth as man, God sent the Holy Spirit.

Matthew 3:13-17 (NKJV) Then Jesus came from Galilee to John at the Jordan to be baptized by him. 14 And John tried to prevent Him, saying, “I need to be baptized by You, and are You coming to me?” 15 But Jesus answered and said to him, “Permit it to be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he allowed Him. 16 When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him. 17 And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”

Clearly this is God giving the Holy Spirit to Jesus before Jesus is tempted by satan. How many of us have been challenged, tempted by satan without having the Holy Spirit? God gives us or at least offers us what we need not just to give, but because He knows when the enemy is coming to tempt us. It isn't that God didn't offer the Holy Spirit to us, it is that we did not receive the amazing gift God was giving us. We left the gift wrapped because life if fine. I don't need that, whatever it is that God wants to give me. He is probably just using the gift to control me in some way. What a lie we have bought from satan. Of course, he wants us to live life without the gift God has given us because he knows when we open the gift (receive the Holy Spirit) his influence and lies cannot stand up to the truth as the Holy Spirit reveals God's love and truth to each one of us. Do we think we are more powerful than Jesus? God knew Jesus needed the Holy Spirit and He gave the Holy Spirit to Jesus. Since God gave His Son the Holy Spirit then why wouldn't we need the Holy Spirit?

Maybe we are scared of the battle. We would rather pretend there really isn't a battle over our soul, over humankind. We would rather believe the lie, "I am better off on my own." We would rather deny the truth and live in darkness than to comprehend the truth and life with the power of the Light within us. Jesus needed the Holy Spirit to defeat satan. Rather than wait for satan to engage Him in battle, the Spirit led Jesus into the wilderness to face His nemesis. Ready or not, Jesus was about to be tempted by the one who stole the authority His Father had given man to rule and reign over the earth. Satan uses the same trickery today to get each one of us to give up the authority Jesus died and lives today to give us.

Genesis 1:26-28 (NKJV) Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” 27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. 28 Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”

In Genesis 3, satan speaks to Eve; while Adam is with her. Satan twists the words of God and Eve cannot see through the lies nor does Adam step in to set the record straight. In one bite, humanity lost the dominion they had been given by God. Adam and Eve did not have the Holy Spirit. God would make sure this would change. His people, mankind, could not be left without the power to defeat satan and his demons. Jesus faced satan and defeated Him first in the wilderness, the next three and a half years and finally when He died on the cross. We celebrate His radiant victory on Resurrection Day. This is fantastic news!

Why do we need Him? Because Jesus demonstrated what man can do with the empowerment and leading of the Holy Spirit. Jesus gives mankind the opportunity to receive the authority the Father has given Him. This time we also are privileged to receive the Holy Spirit as well. Then, we not only have the authority from the Father but we also have the power of the Holy Spirit to administer the Father's authority here on earth. This is why we need the Holy Spirit.

We are to live a victorious life. The life Jesus died to give us. However, without the Holy Spirit we are but human. It doesn't matter how much we understand of the authority we have been given if we do not have the power to administer the authority.

Father, I thank you for sending Jesus to be our Savior, the Messiah. I am amazed how Jesus faced every temptation the enemy can through at mankind and Jesus won every time. Thank you Jesus for showing me how to defeat the enemy. Thank you for giving Jesus the Holy Spirit to defeat satan in the wilderness and every day that followed. I receive the Holy Spirit and yield to His leading in my life. I ask to be trained by the Holy Spirit to accurately divide the Word of God and remove the enemy from my life and the lives of those around me. Thank you for not leaving me here so the enemy could torment me, lording over me the authority he tricked Eve into giving him. Thank you for giving me the power, the Holy Spirit, to know the lies of the enemy, to stand upon Your truth and live a victorious life. Thank you for giving the Holy Spirit so I could overcome the enemy. In my own power, I am not enough; but in the power of the Holy Spirit, I can take the enemy down and put him under my feet. I ask for Your children to receive the Holy Spirit, listen, learn and be led by the Holy Spirit. I pray for Your children to see the lies of the enemy and walk the path of truth. I pray for Your children to embrace the authority You have given each one and live with the power of the Holy Spirit to remove the enemy from our land. No longer will we turn over our authority to the enemy. We will not embrace satan's lies. We will walk in the truth, administer the authority God has given us and release the power of the Holy Spirit to push back the enemy and establish God's kingdom here on earth in Jesus' name amen.

A Warrior in the Lord’s Army,

My hope is for Believers in Jesus Christ to join together each day to pray, to push back the enemy as we release God’s power here on earth against the coronavirus, riots, and lies. The prayers will be listed each day as Warriors Arise. I will put a date with it so we can keep them straight. If you have any questions please feel free to make a comment or private message me.
