John 20:14 "Now when she had said this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there..."

Mary saw Jesus but she didn't know it was Jesus. Maybe, it was because she was so emotionally spent. To say that the last days had been overwhelming would be an understatement. To say that the last few hours had been any easier would be insensitive. She had been weeping, pouring out all her sorrow, frustration, sense of loss, and trying to wrap her mind around what the first angel said and now what these two angels in the tomb had said. What was happening?

Now she has has two choices: believe what her mind is telling her or believe what the angels are telling her. We, as believers, are the temple of the Holy Spirit. He resides in us. He comforts, counsels and guides us; but they did not have the indwelling of the Holy Spirit yet. They had only heard about how in the Old Testament the Holy Spirit would come upon someone and they would act in the supernatural, like Samson. She did not have a grid for what was going on. She turned around and saw Jesus standing there but she didn't recognize Jesus.

I often wonder why Jesus returned to the tomb. The angel from the morning had told Mary Magdalene, Mary, and Solame Jesus would meet His disciples in Galilee. I would have thought He was on His way. He couldn't wait to meet with them. However, being God, He would have known His disciples were not yet headed to Galilee as the angel instructed. Even though it was God's plan for the disciples to meet Jesus in Galilee, Jesus knew He had to return to Jerusalem.

We know from Scripture, "Jesus did only what He saw His Father doing." So did God hear Mary's weeping and feel the pain in her heart and send Jesus back? God loves us immensely, in all our trouble, through all the pain, and meets us right where we are emotionally, spiritually, and physically.

Mary Magdalene went to the last place Jesus should have been. She had no where else to look for Him. Mary wasn't ready for what she saw. She "saw" Jesus but she didn't recognize the man before her as Jesus.

Warriors I want us to pray today for all those Jesus has appeared to during this pandemic. Let's pray their eyes are opened and to fully see Jesus. We are going to pray they will remember Jesus standing before them, with them and walking with them through the difficulties of the pandemic.

Father, it is so important that we see You. You are with us and never leave us. You are for us and never abandon us. You lift us up and out of the mire. You put our feet on solid ground. You make a way when there is no way. You have made Yourself known, demonstrated Your love, and given us faith to believe You are making a way out. I ask for You to come and shine the light over the last several weeks. Show each and every one exactly how you were standing in front of them. Many did not recognize You, but I am asking for You to remind them of Your presence, exactly where You were standing and the peace You brought into their lives. I pray for each person to see Your face and comprehend how You guided each one to a place of security, protection, and direction through Your amazing love for each person. I pray for each one to embrace what You did to get them out of a terrible situations and for making a way for them to succeed in their now. I pray for each person to know deep within themselves that You have not set them up to fail. You did not take their dreams from them. You did not steal their hopes. I pray they would see the enemy who wants nothing but to make their lives miserable and spew lies to blame You. I ask for You to open the eyes of each one to know Your amazing love that casts out all fear. I ask for You to open their eyes to see Jesus with them in their situation and how You are going to set them up to win big. You are Jesus, standing before us. I pray we would have eyes to see You and our hearts would be settled. I pray we would see Jesus and know all is well. I pray for those who do not know Jesus to see Him and make Him their Lord and Savior. In the name of Jesus we tell the enemy who tries to blind us from seeing Jesus to leave. I ask for my eyes to be open to see Jesus in my every day life and to follow in His path. As Jesus did only what He saw His Father doing, I ask for myself and for all those who now have seen Jesus to continue seeing Jesus and doing what He is doing. Father, meet us where we are and restore us emotionally, healing us physically, and strengthen us spiritually in Jesus' name amen.
