When God Stops Talking

Generally, when God stops talking it is because He is tired of repeating Himself. Many parents can identify with this. We tell our kids to do something...and they not done. So we tell our kids to do that same thing...and they don't. Again, we walk into the room, see that they've not done what we have told them, so we tell them with more force in our voice...do they do what we have said?

At times, I can allow myself to get so frustrated that they did not do what I had ask them to do. Then I revert to telling them what to do. I remember having this lesson with one of my kids. "I asked you to do this but you didn't do it. I didn't ask you because you had a choice. I asked you because it is the nicest way to 'tell' you to do it. It gives you the opportunity to learn to make the right choice. If I need you to do something, you get more gratification from it when you do it because you decided without me 'telling/commanding' you to do it. So, my asking is because you have a choice 'not-to' do it. It is the nice way of telling you I expect this to be done in a timely manner."

It is time for us to take responsibility for what we have heard. God shouldn't have to say what He wants us to do over and over and over again. When we are in unity with God, then when He speaks we respond.

As I shared in yesterday's Warrior's Arise prayer strategy, the Bible tells us Jesus had already told the disciples to meet Him in Galilee before He died on the cross. Then an angel is at the tomb waiting. When the three women arrive, he tells them to tell the disciples and Peter, Jesus will meet them in Galilee. But they haven't gone yet.

Jesus appears to two men walking from Jerusalem to Emmaus. He doesn't reveal Himself to them until after He teaches them and breaks bread with them. Why did Jesus vanish after He revealed Himself to these two disciples?

Luke 24:30-31 (NKJV) Now it came to pass, as He sat at the table with them, that He took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to them. 31 Then their eyes were opened and they knew Him; and He vanished from their sight.

Why did Jesus vanish? Because He didn't have anything else to say. Remember a few verses before this, these two men had shared with Him all they had heard from earlier in the day, the stone being rolled away, the message from the angel given to the women to share with the disciples and Peter, and the message given from Jesus to Mary Magdalene for the disciples. He joins them on their way to Emmaus as they are trying to decide what they believe.

Jesus is not just silent but He is gone after He reveals Himself to these two disciples. He had nothing else to teach them. He needed them to do what He said to do: "meet Me in Galilee."

I am concerned God is calling believers to ban together and pray. As Peter had difficulty tarrying with Jesus for one hour in the Garden of Gathsemane, what about us today?

Don't you think God wants us to pray, prepare the way for the biggest revival to ever happen on earth? He wants us to pray for His kingdom to come, His will be done as it is in heaven. Not my will, not your will, not the plans of the enemy to destroy mankind; He wants us to pray for the souls of all these people were are seeing on TV. We know many are lost and going to hell and so does He.

My question: When you see the chaos, disaster and devetation on the news does it provoke you to pray? Have we become so desensitized from the things of this world that we do not value others? Does it matter to you that billions are going to hell?

Maybe we are not desensitized but we have become apathetic. Do you know what happens in the Old Testament to the Israelites every time they became apathetic? God allowed them to be taken in to bondage (read the book of Judges). When things got so bad they would cry out to God and He would deliver them. I really do not want to wait until we are overtaken and in a life of bondage. I would like to live the live of blessing Jesus died to give me, to give all of us.

God tells us to meet Him in the secret place. Your prayers are important. I want to encourage you to continue to meet with God in the secret place. If nothing else, pray for revival all across the land, all over the earth.

Father, I am so thankful You speak to me. Thank you for sending Jesus and the sacrifice He made so that I would be Your child, a part of Your family; so that I would have the power to overcome the enemy and have courage to share the Gospel. So that I would be a part of expanding Your kingdom here on earth with Your love. I need to be awakened to what You want me to do. I ask for You to direct my prayers. I ask to have compassion for the people as You do. I ask for my heart to be focused on Your love for others. I pray You would speak clearly to Your people. I pray for the hearts and mind of people to be open to what You are saying. I pray each person, believer, and non-believer to hear You speak and turn to You. I pray we would respond to Your love. I ask for You to redeem the times; they certainly are evil. I bind the activity of the enemy who is leading people to destroy the lives and livelihood of so many people. I loose compassion and responsibility upon all people. I bind the activity of the enemy who is lying to the people, telling each one they have a right to take from others. I loose minds to be turned to fulfilling their God-given purpose and calling in Jesus' name. I bind the enemy who has lulled us into an apathetic state. I loose the Your people to wake up, be alert, be vigilant, listen to the Lord and do as He directs. I pray for Your kingdom to come and Your will to be done in Jesus' name amen.
