What Would Be Your First Question?

Matthew 4:19-21 Then He said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.” They immediately left their nets and followed Him. Going on from there,
I wonder how far they walked before Jesus called to James and John? If I was in Simon or Andrew's shoes, I would have questions. I would want to ask, but I am sure I would not have the nerve. It wasn't like they knew Jesus. They hadn't kicked the ball around when they were boys. They were pretty much strangers. What would have been your first questions?
Scripture doesn't tell us Jesus was surrounded by a crowd of people. That would come later. It very well could have been just the three of them walking. Put yourself in that situation.
Would you be wondering why you dropped what you were dong to follow Him?
Would you ask why He called you?
Would you ask where you are going?
Do you think Jesus was talking to them as they walked?
Do you think Simon was asking nonstop questions?
Do you think Andrew was asking if Jesus knew of John the Baptist's emprisonment? Maybe he asked if they were going to get him out.
When you know God has called you to follow Him, as you are going with Him, do you start asking questions? Or are you silent, waiting for Him? Different situations would call for different responses. At some point you would want to ask a question. What would you ask?
Father, help me to know when I need to follow You and be at peace. Help me to know I am completely loved by You. You will not get tired of frustrated by my questions. I would to be able to recognize the times when I need to be silent and the times I can ask what is on my heart and rolling around in my mind. I pray I would not try to figure things out. I pray I would ask questions that would be relevant to the reason why You called me. I am valued by You. Even thought I may have questions, I want them to be to answers I need to know. I ask for wisdom to know when to ask and when to be at peace and walk in silence in Jesus' name amen.
