Crossover Part 2

Numbers 14:1-4 (NKJV) So all the congregation lifted up their voices and cried, and the people wept that night. 2 And all the children of Israel complained against Moses and Aaron, and the whole congregation said to them, “If only we had died in the land of Egypt! Or if only we had died in this wilderness! 3 Why has the Lord brought us to this land to fall by the sword, that our wives and children should become victims? Would it not be better for us to return to Egypt?” 4 So they said to one another, “Let us select a leader and return to Egypt.”

Sometimes I do not think we think before we say what is coming out of our mouth. You and I know the end of the story for the children of Israel but they didn't. Think about our current predicament: the Coronavirus is still out there, people have lost their jobs because of the pandemic, cities have been destroyed by the riots, a number of good, honest police officers have been killed because of the riots...etc.

Mainstream American media is like the 10 spies: they disregard reporting the truth. Their words push people to operate in fear, and they forgot their purpose. God sent the twelve spies into the land to verify His word. What He said the land would have was exactly what it had. But they added their own opinion to what God sent them to do while they were in the Promised Land. When we forget our purpose we have lost our focus for why we are where we are; therefore, we dismiss what we were there to do.

The problem: we miss the purpose for why God called us, when we look into things that our not our responsibility. The twelve spies were to validate what God said about the land He was giving them. They were not to evaluate how they would get the land or who was occupying the land. Those were God's responsibility. He promised the children of Israel this land and He will fulfill what He has promised. I think He wanted them to know about the land so they would celebrate, see His love, and delight in His provision. God was giving them the best but they chose to take on God's responsibility. We can find ourselves in this situation. God gives us a promise and we think we have to come up with how to make it happen. When in reality we are to:

  • celebrate the promise,

  • prepare ourselves for the promise, and

  • follow God's plan to get the promise.

In Numbers 14, the children of Israel were not ready to believe God; therefore, they could not trust God; therefore, they could not follow God; therefore, they complained about where they were, cursed themselves to die in Egypt and then in the wilderness and then desired to choose a leader to take them back to their life of bondage. What were they thinking? The Egyptians would not let the return and be equals. No, they would return only to be slaves and the second time the Egyptians would just be as haughty toward them, they would punish them for their loss of friends, family, soldiers, firstborns, and all the goods the children of Israel had taken from them. They would not return to Egypt and receive better circumstances or even the same circumstances they left.

Again, I realize the past 8 months have been atrocious but what did God tell you at the beginning of 2020? What was He saying to you before we were going through the wilderness to get to our Promised Land? Many were seeking God. Many embraced the 20/20 vision declaration. God would correct our vision, we would see perfectly. God pulled back the veil so we could see. Did we want to see?

What did the Trump's impeachment trials reveal?

What did the coronavirus reveal?

What did the peace demonstrations reveal?

What did the looting reveal?

What did the rioting reveal?

What did the mainstream media reporting reveal?

What did the trial of a new US Justice reveal?

What did the 2020 election reveal?

What did the recount and fraud investigations reveal?

What did the bombing in Nashville and New York reveal?

Definitely not what I was thinking when I heard people declaring this would be a year of 20/20 vision. Perfect, clear vision. But it definitely exposed the devil has been at work in our country. We are not to go backward but to move forward in the plan God has for us. We are not to remain in the wilderness. We are not to elect a new leader to lead us back to our former state of bondage. We are not to die in battle over our Promised Land (referencing Numbers 14:2-4).

Who are our Moses and Aaron falling on their faces seeking God's forgiveness for our nation and pardon for the people?

Numbers 14:5 (NKJV) Then Moses and Aaron fell on their faces before all the assembly of the congregation of the children of Israel.

Who are our Joshua and Caleb giving us the report of the Lord encouraging us to follow God?

Numbers 14:6-9 (NKJV) But Joshua the son of Nun and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, who were among those who had spied out the land, tore their clothes; 7 and they spoke to all the congregation of the children of Israel, saying: “The land we passed through to spy out is an exceedingly good land. 8 If the Lord delights in us, then He will bring us into this land and give it to us, ‘a land which flows with milk and honey.’ 9 Only do not rebel against the Lord, nor fear the people of the land, for they are our bread; their protection has departed from them, and the Lord is with us. Do not fear them.”

What was the people's response?

Numbers 14:10 (NKJV) And all the congregation said to stone them with stones...

What was God's response? He had had enough. He had been watching and listening the entire time. He was not happy with where this was going. So He gave the children of Israel what they wanted.

Numbers 14:27-30 (NKJV) ...I have heard the complaints which the children of Israel make against Me. 28 Say to them, ‘As I live,’ says the Lord, ‘just as you have spoken in My hearing, so I will do to you: 29 The carcasses of you who have complained against Me shall fall in this wilderness, all of you who were numbered, according to your entire number, from twenty years old and above. 30 Except for Caleb the son of Jephunneh and Joshua the son of Nun...

The devil wants us to miss out on what God has for us. The enemy will cause us to speak out our fears and declare them over our lives. The devil wants us to be miserable and complain against God. Yes, 2020 has been extremely difficult without resolution. We do not want to be in the same position as the children of Israel as we crossover into 2021. We want to advance free from fear, trust in God, and live in the fullness of what God has promised us. We do not want to condemn ourselves because of our fear, because of bad reports, for lack of knowing God's love toward us.

40 years later...they got a second chance. Do you want to wait that long to live in the fullness of what God promised you?

Yes, it has been a terrible year but God as intervened. He is offering us a way to move forward if we will cross over.

Philippians 3:12-14 (NKJV) Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. 13 Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, 14 I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

Father, You are with us. You are listening, hearing what we say. You are seeing what we are doing. I ask for You to help me prepare for the crossover into the promises You have given to me. I ask for Your help to release the yuck of this past year to be left only for the history books, so we do not come this way again. I ask for You to heal our land, begin with our hearts, restore righteousness to the people of America. I pray for Your Holy Spirit to come and bring truth, expose the lies and establish justice for the American people. I ask for You to guide us in wisdom. I pray we would embrace the miraculous of what You have done instead of focusing on the evil of man. I pray we would acknowledge that You have brought us out of bondage and fear. I pray we would embrace the unknown of how the promise will be fulfilled. I pray we would prepare our hearts and open our minds to be led by You into what You have promised us. I ask for Your people to receive what we are responsible for and let You do what is Your responsibility. We will not just sit idle. We pray: Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. We will declare righteousness be restored to our nation. We will declare America to be one nation under God. We will trust You in all things in Jesus' name amen.
