What Disturbs Me Most

Warriors Arise: March 8, 2024

Matthew 7:26 & 27 “But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.”

My heart wants to break when I read, "and great was its fall." I don't want anyone to be foolish. I do not want anyone to have difficult times. I definitely don't want anyone to fall. Being foolish is a choice. If we listen to Jesus then we will be wise. When the house falls down, "and great was its fall", is a consequence. That is decided based on if we will listen to Jesus. Take note that difficult times come upon the wise as well as the foolish. They both have the rains descend, the floods come and the wind blow and beat on their house.

So what is different? Why is the a great fall for one and not the other? The difference is the foundation upon which they built their life. When we build upon he Rock of Jesus Christ, the truth He shares and who He is then, we have a solid foundation. Hard, difficult and tragic time may come; however, because we have Jesus, we know we will not stay in those hard times. The difficult times will not last forever. They winds will not blow or beat our house down. Our lives are solid upon Jesus Christ.

When we do not embrace the truths of Jesus but reject His' love, the wisdom He shares, the promises He gave, then our foundation is like sand, it will wash away and everything about life will be shifty every time it rains or the wind blows. Both the wise and the foolish will have bad weather days; however, one will get through and remain standing while the other will end in a great fall.

My Father in heaven, hallowed be Your Name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Today, I meet with You to receive what You are saying. I will listen and apply what You are saying. You are good to me. You speak clearly. I receive Your word, direction, and instruction. I will follow You and build upon Your truth in Jesus' Name, amen.
