Warriors Arise: February 23, 2024
Matthew 7: 15 “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves.
I find it peculiar Jesus refers to a false prophet coming to us in sheep's clothing. He doesn't say they are coming with a cloak of prestige or papers of recommendation or a signet right of authority. He says they are coming in sheep's clothing. This is sneaky. It is deceptive.
For the false prophet to come in sheep's clothing, means they come in disguising themselves as one of us, as a sheep who will follow the shepherd, the Good Shepherd. For a time, they appear to look like us, be like us, and love the Lord God like we do. But it is all for show. They have an ulterior motive. They are disguised to deceive us.
False prophets are ravenous wolves. They do not care about people. They have a hunger of destruction. They are tearing the people apart rather than strengthening the people. Because they come in sheep's clothing, acting like one of God's people, they can cause the greatest destruction. Their deception is divisive.
Are they wearing sheep's clothing or are they a sheep? One who is God's sheep will follow God wholeheartedly. One who wears the sheep's clothing can't disguise the intentions of their heart.
Matthew 10:27 My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.
Are they following Jesus, the Good Shepherd? If they are then they are a part of His flock. If they are not following Jesus, then they are wearing the sheep's clothing but a ravenous wolf underneath.
My Father in heaven, hallowed by Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us wisdom and discernment. Give us understanding and a pure heart. I pray we would encourage each sheep and identify the wolves. Show us what to do when we identify the wolf. Your Word says kindness will lead people to repentance. Show us how to be kind, so they will repent and turn their lives over to You in Jesus' Name, amen.
