Warriors Arise: April 17, 2024
Matthew 8:30-34a Now a good way off from them there was a herd of many swine feeding. So the demons begged Him, saying, “If You cast us out, permit us to go away into the herd of swine.”
And He said to them, “Go.” So when they had come out, they went into the herd of swine. And suddenly the whole herd of swine ran violently down the steep place into the sea, and perished in the water.
Then those who kept them fled; and they went away into the city and told everything, including what had happened to the demon-possessed men. And behold, the whole city came out to meet Jesus.
This battle was over before it began. The demons yielded immediately. They were not happy Jesus has come early, but they called, "uncle," really fast. This led to the entire city knowing what Jesus had done. The very presence of this Man, Jesus, demanded respect.
Does the very presence of Jesus demand respect from you?
Human beings, each one of us, question the existence of Jesus. Is God real? Who is this Holy Spirit? What does He have to do with anything?
Why do we lack belief in God? What kind of proof do we need. The demons saw Jesus coming and ran to him. Jesus didn't get off the boat and announce who He was, the demons knew.
James 2:19 You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe—and tremble!
"Even the demons believe-and tremble." Why would they tremble if God wasn't real?
It seems to be so much easier for our society to believe there are demons and in their power verses believing in Jesus Christ, God and Holy Spirit, their power and existence. Since the demons tremble in the knowing the truth of God, then why do we think demons are more powerful than God? By James 2:19, not only do we settle God is real but it is easy to comprehend who has the most power. God has more power.
End the battle in your mind. Acknowledge God is real. He is just as real as the demons you believe in and they cower in His presence. They know what human beings tend to struggle with. They know He is real and alive. They know He is more powerful. They know He is coming back and their time will be over.
My Father in heaven, hallowed be Your Name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. I believe You are real. I believe in Jesus Christ. He is Your only Son. He came to bring me salvation and demonstrate how to operate Your love to remove the bondage of demonic control. He sent the Holy Spirit to be with me, give me wisdom, and guide me. I believe You are more powerful than Satan or his demons. You are for me. You make things work out in my favor. You go before me and are my rear guard. You put a hedge of protection around me. You lift me up and out of the muck and mire. You make Your face to shine upon me. I will shout for joy because You have never left me. You have never abandoned me. You have walked with me to the hard, difficult and devastating times. I have never been alone. I will praise Your Name. You are my God and I will honor, respect and worship You in Jesus' Name, amen.
