Warriors Arise: February 20, 2024
Matthew 7:13 & 14 “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.
It seems we have the same problem today. People do not care that they are headed to destruction when their life is over, just as long as they didn't have difficulty in their life. But, who are we kidding? Is there anybody who doesn't have difficulty in life?
Whether one chooses the broad gate or the narrow gate, both have difficulties in life. The different is those who choose the narrow gate will have difficulties that will make them stronger, give them courage, grow their faith, and they can celebrate each victory as it leads to life and life more abundantly.
When one chooses the board gate, they still have difficulties. It may seem like everything is always working out for them, however, they do not have the power of God to overcome the things of this world. They continue to get caught up in keeping up with the Jones', the comparison game, insecurity, continual striving battling against apathy, false importance, and the pretense of always having to portray everything is ok because they are "living the life".
Jesus is identifying the struggle in every generation. We allow our mind to be deceived. Those who think the broad gate has no difficulties and only has an end of destruction are deceived. Those who take the narrow gate are deceived into thinking those in the broad gate never have difficulties. Why do many Christians struggle with thinking those who entered the broad gate have no problems? Why do we allow ourselves to be entangled in those thoughts. They are discouraging and cause us to stumble.
Playing the comparison game is dangerous. No matter what is portrayed by another individual shouldn't affect how we live our life. If you should happen to get caught up in thinking someone else' life is easier, having little difficulty, I would encourage you to watch closer and listen without presumption. We are unable to extend the opportunity of Salvation if we are desiring what they have. Especially, if we truly do not know what they have, their problems, their difficulties, and their destruction.
My Father in heave hallowed be Your Name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give me clarity of thought. I pray I would listen to the pain of those who have chosen the broad gate. I pray I would seize the moment when I can offer the free gift of life and life more abundantly. Give me the courage to share Salvation. I pray I would not allow myself to be deceived into thinking those who have chosen the board gate do not have any difficulties. I pray I would take my difficulties to You and see how You want me to get through them. I pray I will press on for the upward call of Jesus. In Jesus' name amen.
