Warriors Arise: June 4, 2021

Genesis 32:3-8 (NKJV) Then Jacob sent messengers before him to Esau his brother in the land of Seir, the country of Edom. 4 And he commanded them, saying, “Speak thus to my lord Esau, ‘Thus your servant Jacob says: “I have dwelt with Laban and stayed there until now. 5 I have oxen, donkeys, flocks, and male and female servants; and I have sent to tell my lord, that I may find favor in your sight.” ’ ” 6 Then the messengers returned to Jacob, saying, “We came to your brother Esau, and he also is coming to meet you, and four hundred men are with him.” 7 So Jacob was greatly afraid and distressed; and he divided the people that were with him, and the flocks and herds and camels, into two companies. 8 And he said, “If Esau comes to the one company and attacks it, then the other company which is left will escape.”

Everything in you knows that you need to make things right. But how do you do that when there has been such a breach, a breach you have caused? A breach that has been there for at least 14 years. Jacob was walking back into his past, but he couldn't be the same man that he was back then. Once he heard Esau was coming with 400 men, Jacob made plans. He wasn't sure if they would be eliminated from the face of the earth. Did Esau still want to kill him? Did Esau hear correctly, all that Jacob had sent was a gift. It was not another trick. Would Esau believe that? Did Esau think Jacob was flaunting his wealth? Did Esau think Jacob was challenging him to who had done the best over the last 14 years?

Once Jacob comes up with a plan because he does not know Esau's intentions, he prays. God had spoken to him in a dream on what he needed to do for the expansion of his flocks. God had been with his wives as they conceived. But now, would God protect Jacob from the hand of Esau?

Genesis 32:9-12 (NKJV) Then Jacob said, “O God of my father Abraham and God of my father Isaac, the Lord who said to me, ‘Return to your country and to your family, and I will deal well with you’: 10 I am not worthy of the least of all the mercies and of all the truth which You have shown Your servant; for I crossed over this Jordan with my staff, and now I have become two companies. 11 Deliver me, I pray, from the hand of my brother, from the hand of Esau; for I fear him, lest he come and attack me and the mother with the children. 12 For You said, ‘I will surely treat you well, and make your descendants as the sand of the sea, which cannot be numbered for multitude.’ ”

He prays then sets himself apart to meet with God. No distractions. He needed to be with God. He did not need his wives or children. He did not need his servants tending him. He did not need to check his flocks. He needed to meet with God. He set himself apart, made himself available. This was important and he needed God to forgive him. He needed to know that he was enough. He would not be who he was before. Just because he was going back, he didn't want to be who he was. He didn't want to be known as the one who deceived his brother. He didn't want to be the one who would run from responsibility. It all had to end. That had to be in the past. That had to be something of his past. That had to be who he was without God but he needed to know who he was with God.

I can't go on because someone reading this needs to be healed from their past. They need to set themselves apart. No distractions: no TV, no friends or family, no things to do, no busyness and no business to attend to.

  • You need to know you are not the person from the past.

  • You need to acknowledge what God has done in your life, how He has spoken with you, provided and prospered you.

  • You need to know you are who God says you are.

  • You need to know you will become who God has said you would be.

  • You need to know you will accomplish what God spoke over you.

I hope you will take some time today or this weekend to be ALONE with God. The very thing you are fighting against God to get, is the very thing He wants you to comprehend and receive. Until you understand His plans for you and receive all that He has for you, there will be a fight inside of you. Many times the person you are fighting against is you.

Father, I ask for You to come and minister You love to me. Help me to set aside time with You. I want no distractions. God, it is so hard for me to stop all that is going on and position myself before You. I seem to fill my day with all kinds of things that "have to be" done. I get busy doing one things and then the next. I even get busy in my time with You. I can get into such a routine that I do not realize I need to set up times where I need to be with You outside of my Bible time, outside of my worship, outside of my journaling and prayer. I need to seek You. I ask for You to quicken within me to make this happen. I need this time with You. There are things within me that need to be settled and they are not going to happen if I do not set my responsibilities and busyness aside and meet with You. Come and meet with me. I want to hear Your voice and know Your plans for me but most importantly I want to know who I am in Jesus' name amen.

A Warrior in the Lord’s Army,

My hope is for Believers in Jesus Christ to join together each day to pray, to push back the enemy as we release God’s power here on earth against the coronavirus, riots, and lies. The prayers will be listed each day as Warriors Arise. I will put a date with it so we can keep them straight. If you have any questions please feel free to make a comment or private message me.
