Matthew 9:23-27 (NKJV) When Jesus came into the ruler's house, and saw the flute players and the noisy crowd wailing, 24 He said to them, “Make room, for the girl is not dead, but sleeping.” And they ridiculed Him.

All these people who filled the house have been put out of the house. I bet they were talking loudly about how disgusted they were that Jairus had gone and gotten this man when his daughter is dead. I bet they were telling their story to anyone who would hear. I bet they would even take the time to tell these two blind men. The audacity of Jesus to put them out of the house. They were there for Jarius not for Him. They were there to do a job. They were there to perform the sacred songs and wailing rituals. They were telling everyone how rude Jesus was to insult them in such a way. They knew when someone was dead and Jairus' daughter was dead.

Jesus didn't do anything until the people were put outside. There are times when Jesus

doesn't want anyone around when the miraculous is released. Maybe it is the faithless ones who have to be removed.

Matthew 9:23-27 (NKJV) When Jesus came into the ruler's house, and saw the flute players and the noisy crowd wailing, 24 He said to them, “Make room, for the girl is not dead, but sleeping.” And they ridiculed Him. 25 But when the crowd was put outside, He went in and took her by the hand, and the girl arose. 26 And the report of this went out into all that land.

27 When Jesus departed from there, two blind men followed Him, crying out and saying, “Son of David, have mercy on us!”

They found Him! They found Him! They heard all these people talking loud, talking big, disgusted with what Jesus had done. Who is this man, anyway? We are just doing our job. The family doesn't need to get their hopes up. They need music to soothe their pain and wailers who know how to conjure up the sorrow from the depths within a person's pain. The blind men were blind, not deaf. They heard the ruckus. They heard the people being put out, they're disgusted but there is something else they heard.

Verse 26 And the report of this went out into all that land.

This was Jesus. This was the man they had heard about and had listened to day after day and looked to find where He might be. They were so close. Can't you hear them, "Which way?! Which way is the road to Jairus' house? Before Jesus left Jairus' house, these two blind men were outside. They followed Jesus, calling after Him. They followed Jesus into another house. There's no telling how long they followed, how long they called after Jesus. But Jesus did not turn to them. Jesus did not speak to them. Maybe Jesus had to get out of the streets. Maybe pandemonium was about to break out. Maybe things were about to turn into a riot. Think about what Jesus had done in probably less than an hour. Remember the people were thronging Him when the woman touched His garment. So much so, that the disciples thought Jesus was out of line to ask, "Who touched me?" And now, Jesus had offended the musicians and wailers, having them put out of the house and only moments later He released the power of God and the little girls lived. Yes, pandemonium was about to break out. Jesus had to get to a safe place.

However, in the midst of all the chaos, these two blind men listen, followed and cried out. They were not going to miss their opportunity. They had found Jesus and they wanted their moment with the Son of David, the King of kings. They wanted to make their request. They would not be passed by.

In the middle of all the chaos going on in our world today, do you listen for the Lord? Will you weave your way through the chaos and follow Jesus? Will You call after Him and honor Him with Your worship?

Father, it just seems like our world is coming undone. In the midst of the chaos, I ask to hear where Jesus is at work releasing Your kingdom here on earth. As the pandemonium stirs up angst and unrest, I ask to keep my focus on You. The world has caused so many to be blind. I ask for ears to be open and people to follow after You. I pray each one, including myself, would know You are King; You are Lord. You are the One to lead us into green pastures. You are the One who will lead us through the valley of the shadow of death. You are the One who prepares a table of plenty for us. You are the One who anoints our head with oil. I will listen, follow and cry out to You in Jesus' name amen.
