Matthew 8:1-3 (NKJV) When He had come down from the mountain, great multitudes followed Him. 2 And behold, a leper came and worshiped Him, saying, “Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.” 3 Then Jesus put out His hand and touched him, saying, “I am willing; be cleansed.” Immediately his leprosy was cleansed.
Jesus reaches out to touch the leper which brings a physical healing. Can you close your eyes and picture Jesus touching you? Do you recoil or do you say, "No, You don't need to touch me."? If Jesus were to come and want to give you a hug, would it be awkward? If so, why? Why would seeing Jesus and positioning yourself to be touched by His hand be awkward? If He were to open His arms to begin to give you a hug would it be natural and smooth or would you be calculating and unsure?
Today, take the time to position yourself in His presence and allow God to touch you.
Matthew 6:6-7 (NKJV) But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly. 7 And when you pray, do not use vain repetitions as the heathen do. For they think that they will be heard for their many words.
When you get "behind closed doors" or position yourself in His presence what do you do? The leper worshiped Jesus. Do you find yourself coming into His presence ready to worship Him? What do you say? How do you give yourself to worshipping the King of kings?
Psalms 37:4-5 (NKJV)
Delight yourself also in the Lord,
And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
5 Commit your way to the Lord,
Trust also in Him,
And He shall bring it to pass.
After the leper worshiped Jesus then he made his petition known, the request of his heart. Are you specific in your prayers to God? Are you asking exactly for what you need? Is your petition on what you desire? Jesus tells us to ask in Luke 11.
Luke 11:9-10 (NKJV) “So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 10 For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.
Phil 4:6b ...let your requests be made known to God...
Let your requests be made known to God, not through vain repetition and not through your many words as Jesus teaches in Matt 6. From the very depth of you, what is your request? If you do not know, then get behind the closed door, into your "God portal" and let God awaken within you the desires He put in you, the dreams He wants you to fulfill the purpose He wants you to achieve, the joy He wants you to live in each day.
Father, right now I enter into Your presence. I position myself behind closed doors. I take myself out of the distractions of life, the phone, busyness of the day. I put myself before You and listen. I settle my mind and open my heart. I desire for You to come. I am not sure I know what my true desires are. Things, life, daily happenings seem to control my every thought. So many of them are only distractions. I feel my prayers are topical prayers. I want to get to the depth of me and find the desires You placed inside of me. I want to know the dreams You have dreams I would fulfill. I want to live out the purpose You have given me. Speak to the depth of who You created me to be and I will align my days to what You dreamed. I know Your ways are good and perfect. I know I will be fulfilled in all I do once I align myself with the dreams You have placed within me in Jesus' name amen
