Matthew 8:1-3 (NKJV) When He had come down from the mountain, great multitudes followed Him. 2 And behold, a leper came and worshiped Him, saying, “Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.” 3 Then Jesus put out His hand and touched him, saying, “I am willing; be cleansed.” Immediately his leprosy was cleansed.

I love this passage. My heart is moved by this leper, his honor toward Jesus and Jesus' response. When I read it, I sense the love of the Father pouring out upon this leper. We have read how the people have come and almost crushed Jesus because they want to get close enough to touch Him. No matter how desperately this leper wants to be healed, He takes the time to worship Jesus before he asks to be healed.

It challenges me to evaluate how I come to God. Do I come ready with my list? Do I take the time to worship God for who He is? Do I give value to all the miracles He has done? Do I lift His name of high?

My mind may be full of life going on around me and even the issues I have to face but when I come before God, when I get an audience with the King of kings, do I worship Him?

My challenge to you today is to think about what the first thing you do when you come into God's presence. Each one of us has petitions to make, a request to ask, but do you begin with worshipping God?

Worship means you are giving value to something or someone. When you go to God is it only to make your request known? Do you worship God only when He answers your request? Here, in this passage, the leper doesn't know how much time he will have before the Lord but he chooses to use his time giving value to Jesus. He chooses to worship Him.

Every time you talk to God, every time you pray, do you picture yourself in the presence of God?

Father, You are amazing in all of Your ways. Your love is ready to pour out upon us. You strengthen me each day with your peace that surpasses all understanding. You are my Rock and my Deliverer. You are my shield protecting me from the fiery darts. You are the bridge that makes a way to the other side. You are my strong tower I run to. You hear me and respond. You are my counselor and I completely trust You. You guid my steps and teach things I do not know. You have healed me and made me whole. You are m Redeemer. You pick up my broken pieces and put me together again. You are my Lord and I will worship You, in Jesus' name amen.
