Matthew 8:1-4 (NKJV) When He had come down from the mountain, great multitudes followed Him. 2 And behold, a leper came and worshiped Him, saying, “Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.” 3 Then Jesus put out His hand and touched him, saying, “I am willing; be cleansed.” Immediately his leprosy was cleansed. 4 And Jesus said to him, “See that you tell no one; but go your way, show yourself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, as a testimony to them.”

This "leper came and worshiped Him". His approach is so different than others we have studied. You can sense the honor the leper is placing on Jesus. He didn't go up and grab or paw at Jesus. He didn't come begging. He stated the facts. He approached with respect. He made His request known.

Philippians 4:6-7 (NKJV) Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

This leper's approach is so different than so many others. I was asking God about which Scripture to go to next. I was a little taken aback by one of the Scriptures where the people were crowding Jesus so much that they might crush Him (Mark 3:9 & 10). Then to read this passage of the leper. The leper came and worshiped Jesus. There is an approach that can be filled with fear and trembling. With this leper around, not many people would be pressing in on Jesus. They wouldn't want to risk getting leprosy. If he was coming, according to law, he would have to yell out, "Leper, I am unclean!"

How humiliating is that? What if the people had ridiculed the leper, threw stones or hit him with sticks to keep him away? Then he makes it all the way to Jesus and he worships Him. He gives honor to Jesus before Jesus even doesn't anything for him. Maybe he was afraid and felt unworthy. He obviously is a man of honor to know how to give honor. Even in the midst of his humiliation, the leper worships Jesus before making his request.

Father, just for who You are honor is to be given to You. For all You have done I worship You. Remind me of the miracles You have done in my life. I want to give You praise. Even if I didn't realize it at the time, I want to know now. I want to give You full credit for the miraculous You have done in my life. You have protected me when I didn't even know I was in danger. Then there were times I put myself in danger and You made a way for me to get out. You are my God. You are amazing in all of Your ways. I will give You praise and worship You in Jesus' name amen.
