Mark 7:32-34 (NKJV) Then they brought to Him one who was deaf and had an impediment in his speech, and they begged Him to put His hand on him. 33 And He took him aside from the multitude, and put His fingers in his ears, and He spat and touched his tongue. 34 Then, looking up to heaven, He sighed
In the middle of ministering to someone, Jesus sighed. For those of you in ministry, can you identify? For me, I know I have done everything I know to do. I've prayed every Scripture brought to mind. I've exhausted all of my spiritual wisdom and understand, yet, there still isn't breakthrough. I have no idea if this is the case for Jesus, but I can relate to "looking up to heaven" and sighing. Even in this, Jesus is our example. He had to wait on God. He had to wait for the miracle to happen. Whether this is timing issue, positioning the man away from the people, maybe even waiting for the right person to see the miracle or to have their head turned when the miracle happened. There are several factors. Even Jesus had to pause while doing ministry, look to heaven and wait, at least for a moment. Love that Jesus was checking with the Father to see what He was doing, what He wanted Him to do.
John 5:19 (NKJV) Then Jesus answered and said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner.
In my personal life there are times when a situation arises and I begin praying. My prayers can be spot on, but then there are times I jump into saying a prayer when I needed to be silent and position myself in the presence of God. I needed to listen because He intended to do things different. I needed to be directly in His plan, following His lead. I needed to pause. I needed a Selah moment; to stop and think about what the Lord was saying.
Father, I ask to always be directed by You. It is easy for me to pray, to enter into ministry and then there are times I need to be silent, wait and listen. There are times I need to get my focus on You before the problem explodes in front of me. I am connected to You. I receive from You. It is Your power in me that is released into another's situation. I want to be in Your presence, operating in Your wisdom and administering Your will every time I am positioned to minister, as Your ambassador. You are my God and I will follow You in Jesus' name amen.
