Matthew 14:34-36 (NKJV) When they had crossed over, they came to the land of Gennesaret. 35 And when the men of that place recognized Him, they sent out into all that surrounding region, brought to Him all who were sick, 36 and begged Him that they might only touch the hem of His garment. And as many as touched it were made perfectly well.
I believe this gives us an example of where we are today. God is with us but He is not walking amongst us, like Jesus. The Holy Spirit is within us, for those who have received Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. God sees us and knows exactly what is going on in our lives. God hears us and know our deepest desires. God's love empowers us to overcome. God's peace allows us to pass through without being overwhelmed, even having security that He will get us through. God's joy renews our hope to be faithful as we wait.
I do not know why God allows some people to continue with the affliction upon their life. My only response is so that He is glorified in how they will remain faithful through the devastation, trauma, and apparent defeat. Job experienced all three of those, yet, he did not waver in trusting God through it all. Even when his friends tried to convince him that God had come against him, that this was because of some hidden sin. They didn't know whether Job sinned or not. They wanted an explanation and so they figured Job must have sinned, this was a punishment from God. But, clearly Scripture tells us Job did not sin. Without a doubt, God came to his rescue, healed his broken heart and gave him double for his losses.
If you are still in hope of God healing you, restoring what the enemy has stolen, or continuing to believe God will position you in your calling, then you are in good company. Don't lose hope. Don't allow the enemy or even your friends to tell you this tragdey has come upon you because of some great sin, a sin they can't identify and one you never did. If you sinned then repent. It is as simple as that. For those who will ask, God removes your sin as far as the East is from the West. They will never be brought up again, at least not by him. The enemy may remind you, but God doesn't. The only time God would remind you is if He positioned you for a God-opportunity. This would mean He wants you to testify of the sin you were involved in to someone specific so that you could share the miracle of how He offered you a way out, to be restored, to live a new life, and to be victorious so that you never return to that sin. Other than to testify, God does not cause you to remember your sin.The enemy will cause you to remember your sin and if you haven't confessed it and turned from it then you still have a ball and chain upon your life. It is why you can't move forward. It is why you are stuck.
What is my point? How does this tie into the touch of God? The people touch the hem of Jesus' garment? You can't tell me that everyone who Jesus healed repented of their sin first. Throughout the testimony of Jesus' ministry all were healed, all who came to Him. If you apply that people have tragedy, loss of health, devastation to their finances etc. all that happened in their life; because of their sin then you think too cruel of God. The only reason God allowed Job was because He knew Job would win. His reaction would be as hot coals upon the enemy's head. Did you ever think of the people God saved by suggesting Job to the devil? The devil was going to cause heartache and devastation upon someone and God directed him to Job. God directed him to the one that would defeat the devil at his game. What revelry would the devil have when Job did not curse God? What celebration would the devil have when Job did not reject God? There was no celebration! I imagine the devil being madder than a hornet! He came in and stung Job again and again and again, but Job trusted God. Yes, he was hurt. He kept his focus on God to heal his pain.
Stop allowing the enemy to imprison you with his lies. You just might have sin in your life; however, God's love is the stain remover to your sin. Sin has marked you until You come to God. There is no stain of sin in your life that God can't remove. His love is that powerful. No matter what your condition, reach out for the hem of Jesus' garment and receive your healing. It may have to work from the inside out. It seems now-a-days we can talk ourselves out of our healing, finances being restored, and worthiness of our calling. I just don't see these people who came to Jesus causing anything that had or hadn't done in their past to keep them from touching the hem of His garment.
What do you believe? Is God the same yesterday, today and forever? Will He do for you what He has done for others? Have you grown weary in the waiting? Has your lamp oil burned out like the 5 virgins? What do you have to do in your mind? Do you have the hope of the woman with issue of blood, to do what no one else had done? The action of her hope flung the door open for all of these people to beg to touch the hem of Jesus' garment so they would be healed. There was no question in their mind. You do not beg for something you don't believe will benefit or satisfy you some way. These people believed that if they touched the hem of Jesus' garment they would be healed. They didn't have to have Jesus touch them, they just had to touch Jesus and the demonstrative love of God healed them.
Father, You are amazing. Just like we are to have the fruit of the Holy Spirit ready for picking whenever we need it and whenever we need to offer it to others. Jesus had the power of God dripping off of Him. God, I know You are the same yesterday, today and forever. I know there is no sin You will not forgive. I come before You and seek to be forgiven for my sin. I come before You as Your child. You will do for me what You have done for others. Restore faith within me and fill my oil lamp with hope. I reach out my hand to touch You and receive the fullness of Your restoration my life body, soul and spirit in Jesus' name amen.
