Luke 8:45-48 (NKJV) And Jesus said, “Who touched Me?” When all denied it, Peter and those with him said, “Master, the multitudes throng and press You, and You say, ‘Who touched Me?’ ” 46 But Jesus said, “Somebody touched Me, for I perceived power going out from Me.” 47 Now when the woman saw that she was not hidden, she came trembling; and falling down before Him, she declared to Him in the presence of all the people the reason she had touched Him and how she was healed immediately. 48 And He said to her, “Daughter, be of good cheer; your faith has made you well. Go in peace.

Jesus refers to this woman as daughter. She was probably older than Him. It was a term of tenderness. Jesus called His disciples children a number of times. They were not His children, but He taught them as children. This woman wasn't His daughter; but she had accessed the power within Him because of her faith in God. She was a child of God; therefore she had access what was God's. The woman is trembling from the power of God and the fear. Fear of being ridiculed for putting all fo the people in a position of being unclean. Fear of Jesus casting her aside and taking back her healing. I can hear her thoughts, "Who is this Man? What is this power I have tapped into? Is it holy? Will He take it from me?" Jesus tries to comfort her by calling her a term of tenderness and follows it up with, "Be of good cheer." He did not want her to be afraid. The power she received was real and was hers. God allowed the power to flow from Jesus to this woman.

As the disciples told Jesus, "How can you ask, who touched you?" There was a throng of people, reaching in and through the disciples to touch Jesus. How come everyone wasn't healed, delivered, cleansed and made whole? This woman had something that drew out the power of God. This woman had faith. Jesus doesn't say it was the power that healed her. Jesus said it is her faith that made her well. She wasn't out pawing at Jesus, treating Him like a celebrity. She reached with every ounce of hope she had and believed God would heal her. She must have seen others touch Jesus, His cloak and nothing happened. But she pressed on. She would not be deterred. She would not let Him pass by without touching God. She was not groping Jesus, she was honoring Him. This is why she touched the hem of His garment. She was honoring Him as one would honor a priest. She humbled herself and knelt down at the hem of His garment. She put herself in danger. She could have been trampled by the throng of people pressing in on all sides, pawing at Him. But God, protected her as she knelt down and reached around legs to touch the hem of His garment.

He speaks to her with such tenderness, encouragement, and commends her. Then he tells her, "Go in peace." It isn't that He wanted her to leave, to punish her. He released her. She was not on trial and there would be no accusation made toward her. She had no debt to pay; she owed Him nothing.

Last week, I wrote on a piece of paper, "Our position of power is peace." This does not mean we are weak or cowards. It means a peace calms our mind, strengthens our body, and ignites our spirit.

Philippians 4:6-7 (NKJV) Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Isaiah 26:3-4 (NKJV)

You will keep him in perfect peace,

Whose mind is stayed on You,

Because he trusts in You.

4 Trust in the Lord forever,

For in Yah, the Lord, is everlasting strength.

When Jesus tells this woman to go in peace He is wanting her to keep her mind on Jesus, on the Lord. When she tells how she was healed people may question her and try to talk her out of the event. But she is to go in peace. Everywhere she goes, she is to walk in the bubble of peace that surpasses all understanding. It doesn't matter if anyone believers her, she is to remain in peace. Our testimony isn't about trying to convince someone of what we know to happen. Our testimony is to compel others to seek God for their breakthrough, healing, deliverance, etc. We are to remain in perfect peace that surpasses all understanding. We are to keep our mind on the Lord.

Father, this is amazing. You empowered her to remain fully in Your presence by blessing her with peace. You spoke peace to cast out all anxiety and fear. you spoke peace and she is empowered to remain in Your love. Thank you for making me your child. Thank you for calming the fear that seeks to cause me to run and hide. Thank you for Your words of encouragement to continue to grow in understanding of You and do great exploits. Thank You for giving me peace that surpasses all understanding. I ask for You to give me understand of the power of Your peace that I may walk in it all of the days of my life in Jesus' name amen.
