Luke 8:45-48 (NKJV) And Jesus said, “Who touched Me?” When all denied it, Peter and those with him said, “Master, the multitudes throng and press You, and You say, ‘Who touched Me?’ ” 46 But Jesus said, “Somebody touched Me, for I perceived power going out from Me.” 47 Now when the woman saw that she was not hidden, she came trembling; and falling down before Him, she declared to Him in the presence of all the people the reason she had touched Him and how she was healed immediately. 48 And He said to her, “Daughter, be of good cheer; your faith has made you well. Go in peace.

There are a couple of places in the Bible where a heavenly being is telling a human, "be of good cheer." It generally follows, "Do not be afraid." The person is afraid of the heavenly being front of them and speaking to them. They do not have comprehension for what is happening. This woman who has touched the hem of Jesus' garment reached in to a realm she couldn't comprehend. Jesus is trying to put her at ease by calling her daughter, a term of endearment, a term to let her know she is accepted. Then He tells her to, "be of good cheer." Something has happened. She knows something happened when she touched the hem of Jesus' garment. She knows it was power that came from Jesus. She has confessed what happened but will He believe her.

Yes, she wanted to be healed. But she probably didn't think He would notice. Now that He did and she told what happened what would He do? She is trembling. Had she taken something that He did not want her to have. Would he curse her with something worse than the issue of blood? Would he have her turned over to the priests? Would they cast her out of the synagogue? Now, that she confessed all, what would He do?

He calls me daughter. He tells me to be of good cheer, all is well. He didn't curse me. He didn't rebuke me. He didn't cast me away. He didn't send me to the priests for discipline, because I shouldn't have been amongst the crowd.

God is not looking to discipline us. He couldn't have been more proud of this woman. She operated in faith, faith that He would heal her. She displayed courage as she defied all the laws when she pushed through the throng of people to get to Jesus. She honored Him by her testimony. She confessed all which became a testimony of the power of God for those who would believe. There was nothing for her to fear. This is a time to celebrate as she is accepted by God when Jesus called her daughter. She is honored by God as Jesus tells her to "be of good cheer". She is to celebrate the touch of God, the power of God that healed her body.

Father, I am Your child. You call me Your own. You accept me and place value upon my life. You have redeemed me from the curse of the law. You have restored by soul. Your love casts out all fear. Your touch heals my body and makes me whole. I will rejoice in what you have done in my life. I will rejoice in the healing You have given me. I will praise You for You are wonderful in all of Your ways. I will be of good cheer. I will delight in Your love for me in Jesus' name amen.
