Luke 8:42-47 (NKJV) But as He went, the multitudes thronged Him. 43 Now a woman, having a flow of blood for twelve years, who had spent all her livelihood on physicians and could not be healed by any, 44 came from behind and touched the border of His garment. And immediately her flow of blood stopped. 45 And Jesus said, “Who touched Me?” When all denied it, Peter and those with him said, “Master, the multitudes throng and press You, and You say, ‘Who touched Me?’ ” 46 But Jesus said, “Somebody touched Me, for I perceived power going out from Me.” 47 Now when the woman saw that she was not hidden, she came trembling; and falling down before Him, she declared to Him in the presence of all the people the reason she had touched Him and how she was healed immediately.
When you know God has done something miraculous in your life, how do you come before Him?
There are several reasons why she might have been trembling.
The power of God exploding into her body just might have caused her to tremble.
The realization that the flow of blood had stopped might have caused her to tremble.
Her body adjusting to the power that surged through her may have caused her to tremble.
The awareness that she heard Jesus ask, "Who touched me?" might have caused her to tremble.
The crowd stopping when Jesus asked the question, might have cased her to tremble.
The fact that she couldn't hide might have caused her to tremble.
When did the trembling start? We do not know for sure. We know she was trembling when she approached Jesus. But I think the trembling started as she pressed through the crowd, hoping no one would notice her, in the fear of being caught. I think the trembling increased as she got closer to Jesus. Her heart began to pound so ferociously that she was sure everyone could feel the vibration. Then with all of her courage she bent down, hoping not to get crushed by the crowd. Praying Jesus would not move out of reach as she reached for the hem of His garment. Then to be so close to what every fiber in her being was hoping for, the time had come. Would she be worthy? Would this be enough? What if it didn't work? What if touching the hem of Him garment would not help her? As she reached for His garment and the attack of doubt, became overwhelming but her faith was greater. She reaches with everything that is in her for the hem of Jesus' garment. At this point, not only is her hand trembling but every muscle in her body is tense and weak at the same time.
Once she touched the hem of His garment something changed. The trembling was not from her fears nor her faith. The trembling was the power of God flowing through her body to bring complete healing. I picture it being as if she was holding onto a knife as she stuck it into an electrical outlet. Do you know the feelings of it zapping ever nerve up your arm. However, for her, the power of God pulsed throughout her body touching every tissue that needed repaired and every cell that needed to be revived.
As she is feeling the zap, the tingling, the change in her body she hears Jesus ask, "Who touched me?" The realization, "I can't hide." and the trembling shifts again. Still feeling the surge of the power of God in her body causing some trembling, the fear begins to weigh on her as she knows, He is looking for her. She reigns in the fear and flips to courage as she makes her way to Jesus. Even in courage we find ourselves trembling even if it is only on the inside. She stepped forward with the trembling of the power of God, with the fear of being rejected, unworthy, in sin for taking something without asking, and compelled by the trembling of courage to testify of what the power of God did in her body.
Hebrews 4:16 (NKJV) Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
Father, I come before You on behalf of my family. As sickness abounds, the rise of the new strand of COVID, seasonal allergies, the cold, and the flu, I ask for You to heal our bodies of the sickness that attacks us. I pray for our bodies to learn the sickness and overcome the sickness. You made our bodies to learn the sickness and then develop our own immunity. I ask for our bodies to work as You designed. You are my God and I honor You as my Lord and Savior. I know Your mercy is new every morning and I receive healing in my body by the power of the blood of Jesus. I receive grace to help in my time of need. I reach out to You and touch the hem of Your garment asking for complete restoration of my body to come and to come to my family in Jesus' name amen.
