Luke 8:40-45 (NKJV) So it was, when Jesus returned, that the multitude welcomed Him, for they were all waiting for Him. 41 And behold, there came a man named Jairus, and he was a ruler of the synagogue. And he fell down at Jesus’ feet and begged Him to come to his house, 42 for he had an only daughter about twelve years of age, and she was dying.

But as He went, the multitudes thronged Him. 43 Now a woman, having a flow of blood for twelve years, who had spent all her livelihood on physicians and could not be healed by any, 44 came from behind and touched the border of His garment. And immediately her flow of blood stopped.

The people were waiting for Jesus. Jairus needed a miracle. He needed to get to Jesus. As a father, he was desperate for his daughter to receive healing before death took over. Jairus has put his reputation line by seeking Jesus for the life of his daughter. He was a synagogue ruler. Jesus agreed to go with him to seek his daughter. The multitudes thronged Him. Everyone pressing to get Jesus' attention, to have Him tend to their needs and receive their miracle. We do not know if Jesus would not be deterred. Maybe He knew the urgency of going immediately. Maybe the woman with the issue of blood heard Jairus explain His need for Jesus to come. She would have known that he might have her put out of the synagogue if he knew her condition. She was putting everyone at risk. They would all be declare unclean. There was no chance for her to talk to Jesus, to tell her story. So she had to believe one touch of the hem of His garment would be enough. That is all she could chance at this time.

I remember growing up thinking God was so busy that He didn't have the time to respond to my need. I would pray about something but in my mind I would think, "I'll check back in a couple of weeks." I just knew in my heart there were so many other people who had bigger problems than me. I knew there were others were more important than me. I knew there were others sho desired God's attention more than I did. So, I figured, maybe in a couple of weeks God would be able to fit in my request. Maybe, by then, He would have time to respond. I know now, that God can hear and respond to every prayer request as they come in. I also, realize God doesn't always wait for us to ask before He starts working on a solution. He wants things to work out in our favor more than we can believe.

Romans 8:28 (NKJV) And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.

Ephesians 3:20-21 (NKJV) Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, 21 to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.

God is so amazing! Romans 8:28 and Ephesians 3:20&21 are powerful verses that express the greatness of our God and His overflowing of love toward His people. They are verses every Christian who have grafted to their inner being, written on their heart, and wallpapered to their mind. God is for you! Do you believe that?

This woman, hoped with every fiber of her being, with every last ounce of faith she could muster. She believed from the very depth of who she was that if she touched the hem of His garment she would be healed. So many people were touching Jesus but one got powerfully healed. What made the difference?

She wasn't wishing Jesus would do something. She wasn't looking to be pitied. She had too many people respond to her that way and it didn't help. It didn't even soothe her soul or comfort her spirit. She wasn't pawing at Him like a celebrity or the President walking by. She was reaching with faith to the deity within Jesus. She boldly pushed through the thronging crowd and secretly prayed her prayer and God met her at the hem of Jesus' garment.

Father, You saw her when she left her home and went to find Your Son. You saw her push through the throng of people. You knew she would reach for Him garment. That is where she received Your touch. I am so amazed at how You meet us where we are. She couldn't reveal herself. But You met her. I pray for boldness to approach You . Even though my prayers may not be as desperate as this woman, I know You hear me. I know You care for me just as much. I am Your child. There are times I fell like I need to shoulders things that are too heavy for me. There are times I do not want people to see my point of pain or weakness for fear of being rebuked, criticized or discouraged from what I know You can do in me and through me. I ask for You to come and minister to my heart. Draw me to You and give me boldness to approach You. Your love is amazing and You desire to strengthen me when I am weak and set my feet on solid ground. Thank You for Your love in Jesus' name amen.
