Warriors Arise: February 29, 2024
Matthew 7:21 & 22 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’
The power comes from the name of Jesus. Even when spoken by non-believers, the name of Jesus is powerful. The power of the name of Jesus is not diminished because it is being used by a non-believer. It is not the person prophesying in Jesus' name, it is the name, "Jesus" that is powerful.
Jesus' name is "that" powerful. People who are not saved can see the miraculous happen when they say the name of Jesus. This is why Jesus addresses what He knows will be their dispute at heaven's door. It is not by using His name that gets you or I into heaven. It is not by doing the miraculous that get you or I into heaven. Many will say, "have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name," because they are giving credentials for the works they have done in the name of Jesus. All of these things, Believers should be doing. However, doing the work is not what gets you for I into heaven. We get into the heaven because we have confessed our sin and called upon Jesus to be our Savior and Lord.
However, the greater question, since I am a Believer and Jesus my Savior and Lord, I have to ask myself, "Why am I not seeing the miracles these non-believers, Jesus is refereeing to are seeing?" I don't have to do the miracles, but if I can declare the name of Jesus and release HIs power to heal, deliver, and do wondrous things, then why wouldn't I? Why wouldn't I represent Jesus in the fullness of what He has to offer. It isn't for my glory. It is so others see the love of God. His desire for their freedom, restoration, redemptions, and desire to take their place in His kingdom.
My Father in heaven, hallowed be Your Name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. I want to believe and declare Your freedom to the captives. I want people to know You. I want them to know You are with them and will bring freedom into their lives. I want Your kingdom to come here on earth. I want Your will to be done here on earth. Does a non-believer believe in Your power more than I, more than Believers? God, it would seem we do not represent You well. I desire to be Your ambassador. I desire to represent You well so others will know You and have the opportunity to walk in the free Your Son lived here on earth, died and rose again to give us. I praise You in Jesus' Name amen.
