Astonished means greatly surprised or impressed, amazed. What was the last verse or Scriptures you have read that astonished you? These people who were listening to Jesus were astonished at HIs teaching. When was the last time you read something Jesus said and it astonished you?
I want to be astonished by God's Word. I want the Scripture to come alive to me, have the light bulb exerpeience as I get revelation of a phrase, verse or passage. I do not want the Bible to be words on the page that do not compel me to align my thinking to His and my actions to honor HIm.
My Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. I pray for Your word to bring life to me. I pray I am astonished by Your Word, teachings, and ways. I want to be in awe of You and worship You. I open my ears to You. My desire is to understand what Jesus taught and apply it to my life. I ask for understanding and clarity in Jesus' Name amen.
