The Dream Came from Him

Warriors Arise: February 20, 2021

Daniel 5:24-28 (NKJV ) Then the fingers of the hand were sent from Him, and this writing was written. 25 “And this is the inscription that was written: MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN. 26 This is the interpretation of each word. Mene: God has numbered your kingdom, and finished it; 27 Tekel: You have been weighed in the balances, and found wanting; 28 Peres: Your kingdom has been divided, and given to the Medes and Persians.”

What is between sigh and ugh? When I looked today at the meaning of TEKEL, my heart sunk. I didn't sigh but it was something like a heavy sigh of dread.

What was on the other side of the scale? For God to let Belshazzar know, "You have been weighted in the balances..." Before money or coins there would have been gold, silver, beads etc. used to buy items. You would be charged for something based on its weight. One side of the scale would be the weight pieces used for measurement and the other side would have been what you wanted to buy or what you were using to purchase it. When God tells Belshazzar, "You have been weighed in the balances, and found wanting", what was God balancing on the other side?

Years ago a couple of Scriptures came to life as I understood another aspect about God.

Psalms 139:13-18 (NKJV) For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother's womb. 14 I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well. 15 My frame was not hidden from You, When I was made in secret, And skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. 16 Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, The days fashioned for me, When as yet there were none of them. 17 How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them! 18 If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand; When I awake, I am still with You.

Psalm 139 is a goldmine for each one of us to know our true identity. God is the one who formed each and every part of you (vs 13). There may be parts of you that you do not like but that is not God's view of you. He values each and every part of you (vs 14). God didn't make a mistake with how He designed you (vs 15). Verse 16 is the kicker. It is the real clincher for knowing before you were created, formed, fashion and made, God had dreams for you. He dreamed of what you would do, what you would look like, and how you would seek and trust Him. He dreamed you would accomplish the purpose for which He created you to be on the earth at this time. Before God thought of making you He had visions of what you would be like, your personality, talents, and pursuits. God had so many precious thoughts of you before you were even formed in your mother's womb (vs 17).

So, what is on the other side of the scale for Belshazzar? The dreams God dreamed about him before he created him in this mother's womb. What is the problem? Belshazzar has rejected all God has given him, the position God has placed him in, and the destiny for which God gave him for this time. Belshazzar rejected everything God dreamed he would become and was found wanting. Found wanting, meaning he doesn't have enough on his side of the scale to balance what God has put in him to become and accomplish. Belshazzar has rejected the dreams God had for him and squandered all God had given him. As evident by what Daniel told him prior to interpreting the writing on the wall.

Did you know God dreamed of you before He created you? Before He chose which family you would be given to? Before He gave you your personality, talents, and desires? God dreamed of you and then He fashioned you in your mother's womb to position you to fulfill the dreams He has placed inside of you.

Father, I ask for You to come and meet with me. I settle myself in front of You, at Your feet, as a child, to hear You speak Your dreams of me. I do not want to miss it. I want to know the dreams you dreamed of me before you fashioned me in my mother's womb. I ask for You to open my ears to hear and my mind to comprehend. I pray for my heart to receive Your words. I am not sure my mind can comprehend what You will tell me but I want to know. I want You to revive my purpose and bring life to dreams I have cast away and dreams I have not dared to believe. I didn't know they were from You. At times I thought I was being fanciful in what I was thinking. I ask for You to be in charge of my dreams. I ask for You to awaken Your dreams within me. I want to fulfill everything You dreamed I would be, become, and achieve. I want to agree with the dreams You had for me from before I was conceived. I ask for You to give me faith to believe, resources to accomplish the dreams, and a passion that will not die before I accomplish the dreams You have for me in Jesus' name amen.
