That is TOO Extreme!

Warriors Arise: March 9, 2024

Matthew 7:24-27 “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.

“But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.”

There are a couple of mindsets to breakthrough in this passage of Scripture. Many people are at one extreme or the other in their belief. One extreme would be to believe when you receive Jesus as your Savior and Lord that you no longer have any problems, there is no discouragement your life, and you will never be face hard times or trauma.

Then there is the other extreme, non-believers have all the fun, they never have any problems, they go through life as one big party without any disasters, disappointment or trauma. Neither of these extremes are true. These verses above, clearly state the truth about these beliefs.

It is so important to understand the rains descend on the believer as well as the nonbelievers. The floods came on the believers and the nonbelievers. They winds blew and beat on the believer and the nonbeliever. Both experience hardships, catastrophes and difficult life events. So what is different for one to the other?

The nonbeliever will have a great fall. In the end, the nonbeliever will fall, be cast into hell. We, as believers believe the Scriptures, what the prophets have said and what Jesus speaks forth. This is why it is so important for us to share about what Jesus has done for us and what He offers them. Just as sure as I am about my own Salvation and assurance of heaven, I am sure those who reject Jesus will be going to hell. I don't wish this upon them. I pray they come to Jesus and receive His free gift of Salvation.

As a believer, I am faced with all the hardships and traumas as the nonbeliever, but I have Christ in me who gives me hope. The Holy Spirit leads me through those disasters. I do not care for them and would like to believe that I have a get-out-of-disaster card since I am a Christian. But I don't. I have Jesus, who gets me through them. This is why I have the peace that surpasses all understanding. The world doesn't know how to function and get through hard times, but we who have Christ. He gets us through without being overcome by the darkness.

My Father in heaven, hallowed be Your Name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. I praise You for rescuing me. I am grateful for the Salvation You offer to me. I will received it. I will sit down in my grief or devastation, I will rise and walk. I will follow the Good Shepherd and He will lead me to green pasture. The goodness of the Lord will follow me all the days of my life. I will sit at the Lord's table and my head will be anointed with oil. I am His and He is mine, in Jesus' Name, amen.
