Crossover part 13

Exodus 14:21-22 (NKJV)Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the Lord caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea into dry land, and the waters were divided. 22 So the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea on the dry ground, and the waters were a wall to them on their right hand and on their left.

I have always been amazed with this miracle because God separated the water and then dried the ground they were going to walk along. You know when you walk into a lake or river you sink into the gushy mud. They children might have liked walking in the muck but those carrying heavy loads would have struggled. Many would have been stuck. I have also walked through mud. When I went to take the next step and my shoe remained in the previous position.

I believe I was in the kindergarten when my parents were gone for a few days. My dad had taken my mom to get some tests run at the Mayo Clinic. My oldest brother, David, was left with the responsibility to get us to school. I believe he was in 6th grade. My other brother, Doug, was in 1st grade, just a year ahead of me. Needless to say but necessary for the setting, we were late to school. It was Spring, the snow had melted but the farmers were not planting yet. If we walked around the field and stayed on the sidewalks we would be late. So, we quickly walked across the field. At first everything was good. The ground was solid. We got a third of the way through the field and Doug's foot got stuck in the mud. David tried to pull him out but the more he pulled Doug countered the strength so he could get up. David wanted me to come help. I could pull one hand and he would pull the other. David gave one more pull and found himself sprawled in the mud beside Doug. I was terrified! They called for me to come help them. If David couldn't get Doug out, I had no chance! I tried to move toward them but I had been standing too long in the same place. I couldn't move. I was stuck and scared. I am pretty sure I was crying. David was able to get up. Then he got Doug and I free. And we were soooo late for school! We returned home, changed our coats, clothes and shoes in the basement and headed to school the long way. It is funny now but it was not funny then! Sadly, we forgot to clean up the basement when we got home from school. So when our parents got home and look downstairs, the gig was up!

Joshua 3:17 (NKJV) Then the priests who bore the ark of the covenant of the Lord stood firm on dry ground in the midst of the Jordan; and all Israel crossed over on dry ground, until all the people had crossed completely over the Jordan.

God did it again! Just as before, but in a different way, God dried up the ground. When soil is saturated inches deep it takes quite a while to try and get out of the sludge but not for God. He rolls back the water 18 miles upstream in a heap and the ground is dry! Our God is pretty cool! He goes above and beyond was the need. He makes a way when there is no way and it will be on dry ground where there was water just moments before. They could have been walking through mud just like my brothers and I but what kind of entrance is that for God's people? No, He made a way for them to cross on dry ground.

Father, You are the God who makes a way. You are the God who has a plan. When an obstacle is in the way, You remove it. When Your people are faced with the impossible, You step in and the impossible just becomes possible. Thank You for seeing my need and removing the obstacle so I could get to the other side. Thank You for taking what seems impossible and making it possible. You are my God who has a plan for my life, plans to prosper me and give me hope and a future. You are my God and I will trust You. The obstacle that is keeping me from my destiny, I prepare myself for soon I will be walking to it. I will walk through the obstacle on dry ground and into the promise You have given me. When you say to move, I will move. When You say to go, I will go. What You say to do, I will do. I trust You because Your love for me makes a way to get to the destiny You have for me. You are faithful in all things and Your love never fails in Jesus' name amen.
