Acts 1:8 (NKJV) But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

Legacy is an amount of money or property left to someone in a will. It is also a thing handed down by a predecessor. Jesus left us a legacy. He left us property! He left us earth. He died and in His will, the Bible, we are the heirs of earth.

Psalms 115:14-16 (NKJV)

May the Lord give you increase more and more,

You and your children.

15 May you be blessed by the Lord,

Who made heaven and earth.

16 The heaven, even the heavens, are the Lord's;

But the earth He has given to the children of men.

When Patrick asked to be sent to Ireland, he may have been looking for his part of earth to release God. When he went to be trained he may have been looking to be commissioned, to have the predecessor, Jesus Christ release the Holy Spirit upon him. Jesus sent the disciples to wait for the Holy Spirit. Patrick wanted to answer the call to return to Ireland as the dream had instructed, but he needed something more than Bible knowledge. He needed the the baptism of the Holy Spirit. They same Holy Spirit that came upon the disciples in the upper room, before they went out into all the world.

Patrick received the commission of the Lord and lived a legacy for all to know Christ through him.

The monasteries he founded or encouraged became centres of literacy and learning, sprawling universities devoted to knowledge, which would in time serve to collect and preserve the written record of western civilization after the fall of Rome. The Roman Empire had never invaded Ireland and so the land was relatively unaffected by its fall. In the Christian monasteries of Ireland the great written works of the past were copied and preserved for future generations. Through his vision and mission, St. Patrick changed not only Ireland, but the world. (World History Encyclopedia)

Patrick left a legacy for others to follow.

Father, this is our destiny. We all are called to live out Jesus' legacy. When we do we will have left a legacy as well. I pray for courage to embrace all Christ has done in my life. I position myself for the baptism of the Holy Spirit. I want to know Your Word and advance Your kingdom here and everywhere You open a door. If You go, then I want to go with You and when You stay, I will stay and develop Your people in Your Word. You are my God an dI will I've the legacy You have left for me in Jesus' name amen.
