Squatter's Rights

Warriors Arise: January 28, 2024

Matthew 6:30 Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?

In my studies, it do not seem that these people, at the time Jesus is talking to them, are struggling with needing clothing. Generally, they spun their own wool from their own sheep. They were worried about clothing and food. This must be very real concern because why would Jesus waste time on addressing this if the people were not worried about it?

Jesus spoke to what was on in their heart and consuming their mind. Worry had been there so long, it claimed squatter's rights. They needed to receive what Jesus said. Worry is like a squatter you can't get rid of. It steals from our relationship with God.

All healthy relationships are based upon trust. Without trust we cannot have faith. We put faith in someone because we trust them. The people were worried because they did not trust God. They only had a little faith. Jesus says, "O you of little faith."

That is the kicker. My heart aches in reading, "O you of little faith." Is there an area in my life or your life where you are worried, concerned, have an issue, something you can't seem to figure out how you will get through or where the strength or provision will come from? Be honest, so you can receive what you need to release the worry.

I am sure you have tried a number of times to release worry. Worry won't go very far if we haven't replaced it with faith. Matter-of-fact, worry will remain, like one who claims squatter's rights, until you and I declare our faith in God to supply our every need in every situation. We have to replace worry with faith. When we do, then worry has no room to stay. The problem with worry is that it thinks it has squatter's rights

My Father in heaven. Hallowed be Your Name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. I receive from You. I engage in relationship with You. I will share with You my worries and concerns. I will listen to Your direction for the Scriptures I need to build my faith in the ares I am worried. I want to remove worry and grow faith. I will receive faith from You because I trust You. You are my God and I will receive faith in Jesus' name amen.
