Warriors Arise: May 4, 2021

Daniel 6:25-27 (NKJV) Then King Darius wrote: To all peoples, nations, and languages that dwell in all the earth: Peace be multiplied to you. 26 I make a decree that in every dominion of my kingdom men must tremble and fear before the God of Daniel. For He is the living God, His kingdom is the one which shall not be destroyed, And His dominion shall endure to the end. 27 He delivers and rescues, And He works signs and wonders
The living God works signs and wonders! Can you hear the excitement in the words Darius is choosing to use. I have wondered why people say signs and wonders together. What is the different? If it is a sign, isn't a wonder?
People will say, "God, let me see a burning bush like Moses and then I will do what You are asking." However, just by them saying this, they know it is God talking to them. So, it isn't a matter of making sure that it is God. It is a matter of making sure they want to follow God.
People will say, "I'm throwing a fleece like Gideon." Which sounds logical. Gideon was dealing with his fear. He already knew God was speaking to him.
People will say, "When pigs fly..." Even if God did make pigs to fly would they still believe? Would the still do what God has told them to do?
Jeremiah 17:10 (NKJV) I, the Lord, search the heart, I test the mind, even to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his doings.
Scripture tells us that God knows the heart and mind of man. Therefore, why would God give a sign when He knows they are going to reject what He has told them to do? Have you thought about that? People reject God day after day because He won't give them a sign. Since He won't give them a sign, they feel they have a right to not do, refuse to walk through the door He has opened for them. You do not need a sign when you know God has spoken to you. Now it becomes a matter of love.
Do you love God? Those who love God will do what He says because You know He would never lead you into defeat. God sets you up to be triumphant over tragedy, the victor over being victimized, and the overcomer when you have been hit with the knock out blow! God loves you, but He will not allow His children to manipulate Him. He doesn't do signs and wonders for those whose hearts are hard and they would not acknowledge the truth. We see 10 times in Genesis when Moses tells Pharaoh, "Let my people go!" Every time there was a sign. There was a wonder. They couldn't explain either one. It only made Pharaoh's heart harder. For ever sign, for every unexplainable wonder you would think Pharaoh would have yielded, humbling himself before the God who created heaven and earth rather than living in the lie that he, Pharaoh, was the rising and the setting sun. Pride is such a terrible thing.
Pride will keep us from seeing the wonders God demonstrates in our life every day. Pride will cause us to miss the signs because we have turned a deaf ear to the leading of the Lord. He shows us a sign and we want to ponder it until our stalling has stolen the opportunity. Pride is putting more trust in our own thoughts, knowledge and experience rather than in genuinely knowing God, what He has done, and believing He will do what He has promised to do.
Since God wasn't doing the signs and wonders for Pharaoh, who was He doing them for? He was doing them for His children. He wanted to them to see He was greater than any god of the Egyptians. He was the rising and the setting sun, not Pharaoh, and He had come to rescue them. He would bring about their deliverance and take them to a land flowing with milk and honey. The signs and wonders were not to change Pharaoh's heart but to give hope to God's children. He had heard their cry and seen their affliction and they would be saved.
Father, signs and wonders. Over and over again in the Bible are recordings of how You reached down and saved Your people. You delivered them from oppression. You fulfilled Your Word. Your love poured out time and time again as You brought them back from captivity. You restored what had been taken from them. Open my eyes to look back in my life and see the countless times when You made a way for me. You have done signs and wonders in my life. You have delivered me from the predator. You have restored what has been taken. You are my God and there is no other. Your love has never failed and Your strength has been available to me in my weakness. You give me understanding when I do not know what to do. You give me wisdom when I ask. I will worship You in Jesus' name amen.
