Sidetracked

Warriors Arise: February 13, 2021

Daniel 5:22-23 (NKJV) But you his son, Belshazzar, have not humbled your heart, although you knew all this. 23 And you have lifted yourself up against the Lord of heaven. They have brought the vessels of His house before you, and you and your lords, your wives and your concubines, have drunk wine from them. And you have praised the gods of silver and gold, bronze and iron, wood and stone, which do not see or hear or know; and the God who holds your breath in His hand and owns all your ways, you have not glorified.

Something very real happened yesterday morning. My oldest daughter is staying home because she was able to get a full-time job upon returning home after her fall semester. When she works second shift she helps me by taking the girls in for their band and vocal classes. The roads were terrible and she ended up in the ditch. She and Lydia were fine. Several people stopped to see if they needed help before I could get to them. We have AAA because of our extended families living states away. She went in the ditch at 7:45am and the tow truck arrive at 12:55pm. I had just told my mom the day before I could come help her with something because my day was pretty open on Friday. I sure didn't know it would be spent in a dead zone waiting on a tow truck. But that is not the story I want to tell.

When the tow truck arrives the gentleman was so nice. Totally put me at ease. I was relieved when he showed up. He told us to park in a different place for our own safety. We went to the top of the hill so traffic would be alerted there was something going on at the bottom of the hill they would not be able to see. It positioned Abigail and I to see how the man was going to get the car out of the ditch. It was a really steep ditch and snow was pack under and all around it.

The man had told me how he was going to get the car out but he attached the sling to the wrong tire. I was looking at it and thinking, if he pulls from there it is gong to pull the tire off! I began to pray. He went back and forth, tightening the cable and trying to lift the car. I remembered

Malachi 3:11 (NKJV) "And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, So that he will not destroy the fruit of your ground, Nor shall the vine fail to bear fruit for you in the field,” Says the Lord of hosts

So I began to pray. Sunday I had gone back through all of my paychecks from bring a health coach and I tithed. I was not familiar with their pay schedule so I was concerned I had missed a few times when they had paid and I didn't tithe. It was fun to give my tithe Sunday morning. Not only do Scott and I get to help people get spiritually strong in their relationship with God but we get to help them get physically strong as their health coaches. It is a double blessing!

I knew I had given with a pure heart and to give back what God has given to us. God doesn't ask much, just 10 cents on the dollar. Considering He makes a way for us to have the dollar I have no problem giving Him 10 cents of every dollar we make. All had been brought up to record as of Sunday. So when I saw that one of the tires on Scott's car could have been broken off because of the way the man was going to pull it through the packed snow. I hadn't looked at the driver's side tire. It could have been broken just because of the way the car went into the ditch. I prayed for God to rebuke the devourer. Just because we had made money and it would pay for the damages doesn't mean the money God has blessed us to earn is to be stolen by the enemy.

I felt something rise in me as I watched. This was nothing but an attack from the enemy. He had already stolen my morning business schedule and part of schooling I was going to pray but Scripture says God is the one who rebukes the devourer. God even says when we are faithful with our tithe I don't have to do anything, because He is the one who rebukes the devourer. It is the only time in Scripture we are given permission from God to test Him.

So in all reverence I reminded God of the Scripture in Malachi. I reminded Him that I has purposefully checked all my paystubs from health coaching and tithed just five days earlier. I ask Him to rebuke the devourer and for their to be nothing wrong with Scott's car.

As I prayed I watched the man lower the tow rope, put the sling on the back tire and make adjustments. He carefully moved his truck and pulled on the car three times. We dug out around the wheels and there was thing seemingly wrong. I started the car, turned the wheels and breathed. They moved without a problem!

I began praising God, tears welled up as I though of how terrible this morning could have been! God protected my girls from harm and Scott's car from damage! I had to blink the tears away so I could drive but you can bet I praise God for His awesome power! The enemy MUST obey God!

Belshazzar chose not to glorify God but I will lift up the name of my God and all He has done for me!

Father, You are to be glorified in all that You do! Thank you for protecting my girls! Thank you for rebuking the devourer from our finances. You honored Your Word in our lives today. Thank You for all You have done. I bless Your Holy name! I will magnify the Lord my God for He is my Rock and Strong Tower. I will lift up the name of my God for He is the Shelter. I run to. I will praise Your Holy Name because there is no other who loves me like my God. I will shout out praises to my God because His mercies are new every morning. I will sing a new song because He demonstrates His love for me every day. I will make known to the world that my strength comes from the joy I find in my God. You will protect Your people. You will provide for Your children. You will rebuke the enemy and he must leave Your children alone. You are my God and there is no other in Jesus' name amen.
