Warriors Arise: February 11, 2024
Matthew 7:7 “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.
It seems kind of backwards, doesn't it? Generally, if you need something, you go to someone's house and knock. If they didn't answer, and you were friends or desperate enough, you might look in their window to see if they were home. Some might even go to their backyard to seek them. Once you found them, then you would ask.
How many mind shifts did Jesus share when He was preaching and teach here on earth?
Matthew 20:16 holds two of them:
"So the last will be first, and the first last." In what universe does the last get to be first and the first have to go last? God's universe. We think if we are first then we go first. If we arrive late then we are at the back of the line. This was a mind shift for the people Jesus preached too and to us today.
"For many are called, but few chosen.” If someone is called then why aren't they chosen?
Just about everything Jesus talked about was a mind shift. Nicodemus tried to understand. He met with Jesus privately to get clarity.
John 3:1-21, I will share verses 3 & 4.
Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
Nicodemus said to Him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?”
What do you do when you come across something God says or is written in the Bible that your mind can't comprehend?
We receive it in faith. I pray for my mind to wrap around God's truth. I tell God, "I don't understand but I want You to make this truth a part of my DNA. I believe You can teach me Your ways.
Isaiah 28:10
For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept,
Line upon line, line upon line,
Here a little, there a little.”
My mind as it is, cannot understand all the things of God. When I come across a truth in the Bible or God's tells me something I do not understand, I know He is encouraging me to receive the next line, to accept this new precept. Wisdom builds upon applied wisdom. Knowledge builds upon applied knowledge. Therefore, my mind can shift with God's word and what He says to me when I choose to receive it and build with it when I apply it to my life.
My Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it in heaven. Give me today Your daily bread. I will also way mind to shift to Your way of thinking, to Your wisdom, to Your knowledge. I will not lean on why own understanding. I will look to You and truth in Your wisdom and Your understanding. I will learn, make the mind shift, and build line upon line in Jesus' Name, amen.
