Matthew 8:5-10 Now when Jesus had entered Capernaum, a centurion came to Him, pleading with Him, saying, “Lord, my servant is lying at home paralyzed, dreadfully tormented.”

And Jesus said to him, “I will come and heal him.”

The centurion answered and said, “Lord, I am not worthy that You should come under my roof. But only speak a word, and my servant will be healed. For I also am a man under authority, having soldiers under me. And I say to this one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes; and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”

When Jesus heard it, He marveled, and said to those who followed, “Assuredly, I say to you, I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel!

This testimony encourages me every time. It compels me to re-evaluate my faith. I want to have faith that causes Jesus to marvel, not because I want to be praised or noticed. I never want to ask for less than what Jesus said I, as a child of God, can have. Where is our testimony to the world if we are always living as a pauper in every area of our life? What if we actually believed beyond what Jesus expected?

This centurion humbled himself before Jesus because he knew what Jesus could do. He recognized Jesus as one having authority from God. He was thoroughly convinced Jesus could do the miraculous. Because he was a man who recognized those in authority, he knew Jesus could do the miraculous without even being in the room. He knew Jesus had authority to authorize the miracle. Therefore, if Jesus says, "It is done," then it is done.

My Father in heaven, hallowed be Your Name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. I want to believe, ask and receive according to what You can do. I am finding myself in need. I come before You recognizing my mistake. I ask to be forgiven. I need Your help. I am asking for You to speak a word and make a way out of the pit. You are the supreme authority. I ask for Your provision. Thank You for forgiveness. Thank You for Your provision. I place my trust in You, in Jesus' Name, amen.
