Sardines:Revised

Updated: Feb 13

Warriors Arise: February 9, 2024

Matthew 7:7a “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find;..."

I bet you thought we would be moving on, but this part of the verse is crucial. Seek, and you will find. Have you played hide and seek or Sardines? Sardines is the reverse of hide and seek. In Sardines, one person hides while everyone else tries to find them. When they do, they hide with them until everyone is in the hiding spot. The first person to find the hider then becomes the hider in the next round. We loved playing this game with our Texas youth group many moons ago! The church was an excellent place to play Sardines.

Why happens if the last person stops looking? What if they stop looking and leave without telling everyone else? Everyone is hiding, trying to stay quiet, wondering where the individual is at and why they can't find them. What happens?

There is a reason we are to continue to seek the Lord. He desires to be found by us. He isn't hiding to make life difficult. However, there is a Scriptures that comes to mind.

Proverbs 25:2 It is the glory of God to conceal a matter,

But the glory of kings is to search out a matter.

1 Peter 2:9 & 10 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.

As a Christian, we are part of God's family, His children. This makes us royalty. God choose you and I. He made us His own special people. He is not hiding things to make us mad or cause us to quit. He is not concealing a matter to frustrate us or leave us out. Let's ask the question, "Why does God conceal a matter?"

Why would concealing a matter glorify God? Selah.

What would our relationship look like with God if He always told us the answer without our having to invest any effort? The seed of knowledge or wisdom or faith or peace or joy or love, whatever it is He gave to us, would fall on unprepared ground. When we have to dig, investigate, and search out a matter we are preparing our mind, soul, body and spirit to receive the answer. Most seeds that fall upon the ground have little chance of become what is giving within them to grow into. Seeds that have been planted in fertile soil tend to group 30, 60, 100 fold.

You and I are royalty. We align with our position when we want to search out a matter. In the process of searching out a matter our number one source is God, His Word, and listening to Holy Spirit. He desires for us to know the answer, but He wants us to embrace being His children, who understand walking in royalty means we will learn from Him.

What are you seeking God for? Are you still seeking or did you walk away? Did you leave the building? Are you still looking for the answer? It may be hidden but it is for your benefit to keep on seeking until you find.

My Father in heaven, hallowed be Your Name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give me this day or daily bread. Father, I desire to seek You. I want to find You. I want to know where You are and the answer to what is before us. I will not quit. I will rise and embrace the challenge to know the answer. I will find You and embrace Your ways. I will enjoy the process of digging and learning the answer. I thoroughly enjoy pursuing You and finding the answer. I will seek and find You in Jesus' Nam, amen.
