Proverbs 24:16 (NKJV) For a righteous man may fall seven times
And rise again,
But the wicked shall fall by calamity.
I am the one who rises up when life wants to knock me down.
I will rise again. A righteous man is not a perfect man because he is perfect in all that he does. A righteous man is perfect because he gets back up. He doesn't allow himself to remain down, stuck in the muck. A righteous man recognizes he cannot remain down. Life may have kicked him pretty hard and he doubled over from the blow or fell flat on his face; but he gets up.
All of us have had some kind of situation in our life that has sucker punched us. There are times we willingly make a decision we know is not what God wants but when we come to our senses we need to return to God. We need to rise again. We need to get up and seek the Lord to make our relationship right with Him (i.e. the prodigal). Even Kind David is known as the man after God's own heart but he sinned by taking another man's wife. When he was confronted and came to his senses, he repented. He did not remain in his sin after he had come to his senses by the prophet Nathaniel. Later, he calls for a census of the people. Again he falls because God had told him not to count the people. The judgement of God comes upon the land. David repents, he rises again.
There are times we recognize we have sinned and acknowledge. We may even tells someone of our sin seeking accountability but we never sought God to be forgiven. Rising again means you and I have confessed our sin to God and have asked to be forgiven.
Then there are times life hits so hard we are knocked down. Daniel didn't do anything wrong. He was faithful to pray to God three times a day. But those that were jealous of him set a trap and was throne into the lions' den. God protected him in the lions' den and Daniel proceeded to pray three times a day to God. The blind man is told to be quiet, yet he yells louder, "Jesus, son of David, have mercy on me." Jesus calls him to himself and heals the blind man. No matter what knocks us down, we are to rise again.
I am the one who rises up when life wants to knock me down.
Father, I ask for tenacity. Things happen in life, they can be very difficult things but You are with me. I know I am to rise again. I know I am to lift my eyes to the Lord. You will be with me. You will strengthen me. I will rise and move forward in Jesus' name amen.
