Perspective

Warriors Arise: February 28, 2024

Matthew 7:21 & 22 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’

Jesus is delivering a difficult truth, even for today. He is addressing their perspective. It needs to align with God's.

When He says, "But he who does the will of My Father in heaven," seems to open a door for this being Salvation by works. He is telling them, their reasoning isn't aligned with His Father's requirement for entrance into heaven. Yes, He wants His people, His disciples, those who believe to operate in the power of God and recognize the name of Jesus is powerful, but works is not what get you or I into heaven.

Salvation is a free gift. The only "doing" is to confess your sin and believe in Jesus Christ.

John 3:16-18 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

“He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

Acts 3:19 Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord,

Romans 3:23 & 24 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus,

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Romans 10:9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

Romans 10:13 For “whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.”

There are many more Scriptures. I want to make it clear, we are saved by grace through the life, death, resurrection and life abundantly in which Jesus lived and continues to live in heaven. When Jesus is saying, "Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. He is saying Salvation does not come through the works of man. We cannot earn our place in heaven. You and I are not going to be able to bully our way into heaven, listing our credentials of the good deeds we did on earth. We must be saved by our wholehearted belief we are only getting into heaven because of what Jesus did for us. We confess our sin and weakness and invite Jesus to be our Savior and Lord.

My Father in heaven hallowed be Your Name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give me understand of Your amazing love. I cannot earn my place in heaven or even to get into heaven. I have nothing to offer but my confession of my sin and seeking forgiveness. You are holy and just. You are faithful and true. You are peace and love. You are the joy of my life. Thank You for loving me and making me aware of my sin and need for a savior, the Savior, Jesus Christ. I will live my life in alignment with the Father's heart and desire for me in Jesus' Name, amen.
