Warriors Arise: October 4, 2020

John 21:15a (NKJV) So when they had eaten breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me more than these?”

Does it seem like a strange question for Jesus to ask? I shared in a former Warrior's Arise, referencing the different times Scripture said that Jesus knew what people were talking about even though He wasn't a part of the conversation. Scripture also tells us God searches the heart of man. A couple of days ago, I shared the necessity Peter felt to jump from the boat when he heard that the man on the shore was the Lord. He swims 91.2 yards to shore; Scripture says it was 200 cubits. Peter was a desperate man. Why? What does He want Jesus to know?

Jesus asks the very question, Peter wants to answer. Peter knows he was wrong to deny Jesus three times before the cock crowed twice. Peter has been wanting to have this very conversation ever since Jesus looked at Peter when the cock crowed on that horrific night.

Have you ever been so desperate to make things right? You know you were wrong. Your heart is wrenching with pain and agony. Your mind is consumed with trying to figure out how to make things right. You wonder is an apology really enough? Or do you need to demonstrate your value for that person?

Jesus has asked and Peter doesn't hesitate. One of the things Peter does well, He doesn't hesitate to be involved in what Jesus is doing. He may not always do the right thing or say the right thing but you know if Jesus asks, Peter will respond, without a doubt.

John 21:15 (NKJV) So when they had eaten breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of Jonah, do you love Me more than these?” He said to Him, “Yes, Lord; You know that I love You.”

Peter just walked over a 100 miles to get from Jerusalem to Gallilee to be with Jesus. Once he knew it was Jesus, he swam nearly a hundred yards in a long robe! Peter was totally serious about making things right with Jesus, pledging His devotion to God, and honoring Jesus. Are you?

Peter was ready to do whatever Jesus said. He was probably not expecting the question; however, he was prepared to answer it. Are you?

How is Your love for Jesus evident? Do you honor your spouse? Do you train your children in the ways of the Lord? Do you serve in your local church? Is your service to others an act of worship to God? Are you faithful to give your tithe? Do you submit your agenda to God? Do you make decisions based on what God would advise you to do?

Father, these are pretty important questions. Most of these are ways to identify my love for You. I pray for my heart to search and find You. I pray for my mind to be set on Your wisdom. I pray for my love to devoted to You in all I do and say. I want the passion Peter has to purse You. I pray for Your people, who are called by Your name to search and in find You. I pray for each one to pursue You with all their heart, with all their soul, with all their mind, and with all their strength. I ask for each one to listen to You, hear what You are saying and align their thoughts with what You are saying. I ask for each one to surrender their will and pick up Your love as their banner. I ask for each one to know Your perfect love that casts out fear. I ask for each one to draw near to You, find You and dedicate their life to You in Jesus' name amen.

A Warrior in the Lord’s Army,

My hope is for Believers in Jesus Christ to join together each day to pray, to push back the enemy as we release God’s power here on earth against the coronavirus, riots, and lies. The prayers will be listed each day as Warriors Arise. I will put a date with it so we can keep them straight. If you have any questions please feel free to make a comment or private message me.
