Luke 19:1-10 (NKJV) Then Jesus entered and passed through Jericho. 2 Now behold, there was a man named Zacchaeus who was a chief tax collector, and he was rich. 3 And he sought to see who Jesus was, but could not because of the crowd, for he was of short stature. 4 So he ran ahead and climbed up into a sycamore tree to see Him, for He was going to pass that way. 5 And when Jesus came to the place, He looked up and saw him, and said to him, “Zacchaeus, make haste and come down, for today I must stay at your house.” 6 So he made haste and came down, and received Him joyfully. 7 But when they saw it, they all complained, saying, “He has gone to be a guest with a man who is a sinner.” 8 Then Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, “Look, Lord, I give half of my goods to the poor; and if I have taken anything from anyone by false accusation, I restore fourfold.”
9 And Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because he also is a son of Abraham; 10 for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.”
Do you see Jesus? Do you see Him coming your way? God desires to meet with you everyday. Jesus revealed this every time in Scripture when His disciples were looking for Him and they found Him praying. He was meeting with His Father. He was meeting with God. The only way He could do what He saw the Father doing is if He could identify God in the crowd. He had to hear God above the crowd. He had to be able to recognize God's voice when everyone else was talking to Him, thronging against Him, and in the massive noise of the crowd.
Think of the last time you were in the midst of the crowd and looking for someone. Your eyes were searching and your ears were attentive to recognize their voice. Zacchaeus didn't even know Jesus. That we know of, he hadn't even seen Jesus before, but I am sure he had heard people talk about Him. It is obvious, he had determined in his heart to see Jesus. He was not going to allow the crowd to prevent him from seeing Jesus. What about you? What crowd is blocking your vision? What busy-ness prevents you from seeing Jesus?
Father, I ask for You to come and renew my passion to see You. I want to meet with You and be renewed in my spirit, strengthened in my heart, acute in my thoughts, and passionate in my purpose. I do not want the crowd to keep me from seeing You. I want to be able to identify Your presence and follow You. I want to hear what You have to say and see what You are doing and join You. I will not allow the busy-ness of my day keep me from meeting with you. I will not allow the crowd to keep me from see You, being with You. I will position myself to be with You in Jesus name amen.
