Warriors Arise: October 25, 2023

Match ew 5:13 & 14 “You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people’s feet.

“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.

When we are trying to get a point across to our children, we may find ourselves coming up with several examples. We want to make sure they understand and are in tune with what we are saying.

1. If we are giving instruction and they need to know why we are doing something a particular way, we may find ourselves repeating the instructions or finding another example.

2. If it has to be done with precision, we make sure the instructions do not waiver. We want to make sure they comprehend.

Jesus is repeating Himself, but using a different analogy. He didn't move on with the concept He is trying to get across to the people. He wants to make sure they understand the value of what they carry and how they are to offer what they have been given to the world.

When Jesus has to repeat Himself, it must be important. He doesn't just want to move on unless we understand and comprehend what He communicating. In my mind's eye, I see Him moving around the people when He is talking and making eye contact with them. He is wanting to see if they understand when He is saying.

When you and I read our Bibles, Jesus is looking into us. He is wanting to see if we are comprehending what the Word says. He knows how important it is for us to understand what we are reading. There are a number of times He repeats Himself. He even repeats miracles. We are supposed to get what is happening with the repeat. We are supposed to pay attention to the repeat.

If God has to repeat Himself, a concept or lesson, it is generally because I didn't quite get it the first time. When I recognize I am in the repeat loop, I stop what I am doing and listen more carefully. I want to make sure I understand exactly what God is trying to teach me or do in me or through me.

In Proverbs, we are told, "Get Wisdom! Get understandings!" Therefore, we can understand what God is saying. It generally means I have to pay attention a little better. I have to settle my mind and not let it wander while God is speaking.

Father, I come to You today seeking Your wisdom. I desire Your understanding. I am thankful You do not give up on me. I am thankful You do not tire in is repeating what I need to understanding, comprehend and apply to my life. I pray I listen well and learn how to apply what You are saying in Jesus' name amen.
