Warriors Arise: February 13, 2024

Matthew 7:7 “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.

Ask, and it will be given to you;

See, and you will find;

Knock, and it will be opened to you.

Do you notice something when it is written as I did above? It can be remembered as an acrostic. A.S.K., Ask, Seek, Knock. God wants to be asked. Why is that so important? I hear people all the time say, "I have faith to believe I only have to ask one time. God hears me and He will answer."

I will agree, God hears us the first time. I agree He will answer. However, when we only ask for something one time and get it, how grateful are we? Do we realize how much God did in order to answer our prayer the way we believed in our faith?

Someone who has asked to ask consistently and persistently will be more grateful when the answer arrives.

There are too many Scriptures and parables Jesus told about asking and being persistent in asking. I have yet to come across a Scripture where Jesus says we are limited in how many times we can ask God to answer. I do not believe God gets upset when we petition Him again. Maybe He does if He has responded with finality. That would be because we have to trust He gave us the answer that would truly serve us the best. His words says that He words all thing out for our good, so I have to believe that when I do not get an answer the way my heart and mind have asked in faith that God knew it wasn't going to be the best for me or other's involved. Sometimes the answer isn't what I was praying because my heart or their heart wasn't in the right place. It wasn't that God didn't want to answer the prayer according to what I was asking, it was a matter that it was going to take the willingness of another for the answer to align with my faith and what I was asking. They were not a willing part of the solution. God could force them but He wants them to want what is best and trust Him.

We ask, we make ourselves willing to make the necessary adjustments in our life to receive what we are asking and then we trust God to do what is best for all involved. He is more than capable. He truly does know what is best. He will give us courage to align with the outcome.

My Father in heaven, hallowed be Your Name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. You know what is best. I will continue to ask. I will receive Your answer. I will trust You. When I do not get the answer I thought I needed, I know You have what is best for me. When I get weary in my asking, I will strengthen myself in You and keep asking. I will seek You and find You. I will knock and keep knocking. I will pursue You, Your answer and Your ways in Jesus' Name, amen.
