No Sign, Know the Sign

Warriors Arise: January 12, 2022

Isaiah 43:19 (NKJV)

Behold, I will do a new thing,

Now it shall spring forth;

Shall you not know it?

I will even make a road in the wilderness

And rivers in the desert.

This is wonderful New Year, 2022. What is the new thing God is doing? Do we need a sign? According to this verse, God is already at work doing a new thing for us. When He does something for us and we receive it, something changes in us as well. We can't be a part of the miraculous and still be the same. We change when we encounter the miraculous. We can either reject it and grow hard as stone or we can be like wax and be moldable by the Master's hands.

Jesus rebuked the Jews because they wanted a sign. I do not want to be too judgmental of their request. I am sure I have asked God for a sign when He was doing the miraculous all along, right in front of me, in my life and the lives of those I see. When the Jews asked Jesus for a sign, I am sure He had to control rolling His eyes or at least a sigh. The sign in the heavenliness already happened, at least 30 years earlier. The word of the shepherds telling everyone of that night when the angels came and they found the baby just as the angel had said. Then Simeon and Anna both declared Jesus to be the Messiah. There were several people who tried to tell the Jews that Christ has come.

Even if they missed it 30 years earlier, what about all of the healings, deliverances, raising of the dead, and leapers being cleansed? The leapers had to be approved by the priests. The priests were having to declare them healed, so they could return home. The people were astounded by the authority with which Jesus spoke and the simple truths of God's amazing love. I just wonder if I would miss it like they did?

That is a crushing question to me. We are supposed to be expecting God to do the miraculous. Jesus said

Matthew 16:1-4 (NKJV) Then the Pharisees and Sadducees came, and testing Him asked that He would show them a sign from heaven. 2 He answered and said to them, “When it is evening you say, ‘It will be fair weather, for the sky is red’; 3 and in the morning, ‘It will be foul weather today, for the sky is red and threatening.’ Hypocrites! You know how to discern the face of the sky, but you cannot discern the signs of the times. 4 A wicked and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, and no sign shall be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah.” And He left them and departed.

I do not want my unbelief to cause God to leave me and depart. Now, I know He is always with me. Therefore, I am not alone. Because I am a Christian, the Spirit of God is within me. I know Christ within me is the hope and glory of the world. I am to be one to displays the glory of God because of what He does in and through me. Jesus is frustrated with the Pharisees and Sadducess because they should be able to discern the signs of the times and they were missing it! God, the Son, was standing right before them. They were having a conversation with Jesus, the Son of God, the Messiah, Emmanuel, the Christ. They would not believe the flesh and blood standing before them. Instead, they were working against God rather than with Him.

Father, I know You are doing a new thing now. It isn't just because this is a new year; however, the new year has my attention on You. Thank You for the new thing You are doing. Even though I do not know what it is, I know You doing wondrous things. Your ways are good, perfect and acceptable. I look with expectancy to Your lovingkindness being poured out upon Your people. I ask for You to mend the broken, restore the lost, and release healing to Your people. I pray for cancer to die in the name of Jesus. I pray for covid, every strand, to die in the name of Jesus. I pray no weapon formed against us will prosper in Jesus' name. You are mighty on our behalf. I delight in You and receive the joy of the Lord. You are my strength body, soul, and spirit in Jesus' name amen.
