My Heart Struggles

Warriors Arise: November 1, 2023

Matthew 5:13-16 “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven."

All of these:

• Being the salt of the Earth,

• Being the light of the world.

• Being a city set on a hill..

• Being a lamp that can't be put under a basket.

All of these are so your good works can be seen, so those who see will give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

My heart struggles with this. Not because I disagree. My heart struggles with this because I do not see it happening. I see where our world is constantly under attack of destruction. Rarely, do people stand together for good. Seldom, do I see or hear people doing the work of the Father, Matthew 10:5-8, in action.

Matthew 10: 5-8 These twelve Jesus sent out, instructing them, “Go nowhere among the Gentiles and enter no town of the Samaritans, but go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. And proclaim as you go, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, cast out demons.

It doesn't matter to me if we go to foreign countries and proclaim the Gospel or if we stay at home and to heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers and cast out demons. The place doesn't matter. What matters is if we are doing the work of the Gospel.

1. Are you, am I, healing the sick, raising the dead, cleansing the lepers, casting out demons?

2. Are you, am I, preaching the Gospel, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost? As commanded by Jesus in Matthew 28:18-20.

3. Are you, am I, freely giving to others when has been given to me?

How do we expect God to be glorified when we aren't doing the works Jesus said we were to do? How will we people glorifying God is we are not the city on the hill, the salt of the earth, the light of the world?

Father, my heart struggles with this. I should be seeing people glorify You. I desire to be the salt of the earth, the light of the world, and the city on a hill, for You to receive glory. I will testify of what You have done. I will rejoice in Your goodness, protection, purpose, provision, compassion and love. I will share these with others. I will pray for the sick to be healed, the lepers to be cleansed, the demons to be removed from tormenting people, and if someone asks and as awkward as it seems, I will pray for the dead to rise. I will honor You and bring glory to You in Jesus' name amen.
