Making the Connection

Warriors Arise: July 7th, 2020

Luke 24:40-42 (NKJV) When He had said this, He showed them His hands and His feet. 41 But while they still did not believe for joy, and marveled, He said to them, “Have you any food here?” 42 So they gave Him a piece of a broiled fish and some honeycomb. 43 And He took it and ate in their presence.

Jesus allowed them time to absorb the truth. He revealed His hands and feet. He spoke to them words they were used to hearing Him say, "Peace to you." They ate many meals together. While He ate, their minds were able to believe Jesus was living, breathing, and eating right in front of them. Jesus gave them time to make the connection. All the things He taught them, especially the things about His death and resurrection. He had been telling them all along that what happened was going to happen and now it had happened. As they watched Him eat, I can imagine the thoughts running through their minds. All the times Jesus had tried to tell them He would die and rise again in three days. Many of those times they had said, "No Lord." They didn't want Jesus to die. They did understand why Jesus had to die. Now that it had happened, He helped them make the connection. They needed to understand why Jesus had to die.

Luke 24:44-45 (NKJV) Then He said to them, “These are the words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms concerning Me.” 45 And He opened their understanding, that they might comprehend the Scriptures.

Jesus went back to the Law of Moses and the Prophets just like He had with the two men walking to Emmaus earlier in the afternoon. The two men had shared but the disciples were not ready to receive. They were unteachable. But now, they have Jesus sitting in their midst waiting for each of them to make the connection, to comprehend why He had to die and how He is with them now.

Father, I am so thankful Jesus was willing to fulfill the plan of redemption for all mankind. I am thankful I believe in Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. There are many things I do not understand about Your Word and I am trying to comprehend Your ways. I am thankful Jesus came, denied sin, turned away from temptation, and resisted the devil. Jesus has shown us how to live victorious over the devil. We can't be victorious over the devil without You, the Holy Spirit empowering us to live as Jesus lived. I ask for understanding in the spiritual battle for my life, my purpose, and my destiny. I no longer want to float from day-to-day through life without living out the destiny You have for me. I want my life to replicate the love, compassion and power Jesus demonstrated when He was here on earth. I pray for the people around the world who are lost, lacking comprehension of the sacrifice Jesus made for their sins to be rescued and real freedom to come. I pray You would make Yourself known, staying in their presence, allowing them to make the connection of Your love for them. I pray their hard-heart would be softened by Your love. I pray for their mind to be renewed by the Word of God. I pray for each one to come into agreement with the plans You have for them, beginning with salvation. I pray each one would share their testimony and what You have revealed to them. I pray they have courage to testify of Your goodness, how You sought them out, how You made a way for them to live life free of demonic control, and how You plucked them out of the mess they were in and positioned them to live the abundant life Jesus died to give them. I ask for Your Holy Spirit to come and help each one to make the connection of salvation and real freedom in Jesus' name amen.
