Ephesians 6:16 "above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one". What is this shield of faith? Yesterday, we talked about how it was accounted to Abraham as righteousness that he didn't waver in believing God who promised him a son. When we received Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior we were given a measure of faith. Some of us have been growing our faith since that time while others still have the same measure of faith they were given upon salvation.
In the parable of the talents, Matthew 25:14-30, one servant was given 5 talents, another 2 and the third was given 1. Verse 18-19 But he who had received one went and dug in the ground, and hid his lord's money. After a long time the lord of those servants came and settled accounts with them. The servant who was given 5 made 5 more, the servant who was given 2 doubled his as well. Both heard the Lord say, Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord. But the servant who received 1 talent and buried it returned with his 1 talent and began thinking he knew his lord. He saw his lord as harsh, taking what was not his. As he was making excuses, the servant says he was afraid.
When we have a inaccurate perspective of God, then we will find it difficult to apply the faith He has given us to believe God created us to be an overcomer. There are times when God wants us to take our shield of faith, hold it in a position that not only covers us but our entire household, and so many more. An accurate shield of faith is established when we apply our faith into the truth of who God is. God loves you with an everlasting love. His mercy never ends. He makes a way when there is no way. He does the miraculous every day. He hears you and answers.
How do I grow faith? I invest it. If we were to apply the above mentioned parable to faith you might ask how you can double the amount of faith you have been given. The first servant was given 5 and the lord doubled it giving him 10. So, the next time you use your faith to believe God for the miracle needed, you start with 10. As you press in with your 10 measures of faith laying hold of what God has promised you have 20 and the Lord gives you 20 more. The next time you take a stand against the enemy you have 40 measures of faith. Catch the concept? If you apply the faith you have been given to the situation you face and see it through to the end the Lord will double what you have.
The key is to apply the faith that has been given to you each time you are faced with adversity. When your faith has been measured, applied, doubled and doubled again, you begin to have confidence, a certain amount of boldness. You begin to ask for things that you never thought possible. Hebrews 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
The battle over the corona virus us not a one man/woman battle. This is why I asked for others to join me as we apply each of our measure of faith to extend a shields of faith for people all over the world to be healed, like "the suddenlies" from when Jesus walked the earth. Is it too much to ask? Not at all. We want God to lead the army of Believers who will put their faith together to extend the fullness of God's love to defeat the coronavirus, heal those who are currently infected with it, and comfort the loved ones of those those who have already lost their battle with the deadly disease. It is time to say, "No more!"
I am asking you to draw from the measure of faith that you have been given as a Believer and join us in prayer:
Father God, above all, I offer my measure of faith and extend it to join with others to petition You to stop the advancement of the coronavirus. You are Lord God Almighty. There is no one greater than you. Everyone, even the devil is a far second compared to Your power. Without faith it is impossible to please You. Because without faith, we have no basis of a relationship with You. I believe Your love never fails. I believe Your Word is true. I believe You are calling us to ban together to thwart the plans of the enemy and rid our country and our world of the coronavirus. I stand together with my fellow Believers in Jesus Christ and position my shield of faith next to theirs. I will hold it strong. I will hold it high. I will not put my faith down. I will not falter because I know You will hear our prayers and You will come to our aide. Our shields banned together will quench the fiery darts of the enemy. We wash our shields in the water of Your Word. When a lie from the enemy is launched at us we will hold strong to our shields. We will trust in You for You are the only one who can save us. When the enemy tries to cause division among believers we will see the deception and join forces with believers holding tight to one another and building each other up. When the enemy tries to bait us with blaming others for the situation we are suffering, we will not bite. We will turn to the enemy and tell him to "Go" in the name of Jesus. Father, I ask for You to remind me of the exact Scripture I need to defeat each fiery dart the enemy launches at me. I ask for more faith to stand strong, encourage fellow believers and advance Your kingdom. Today, I lift my shield to protect the fiery darts shot at our government officials from President Trump to the governor of every state. I pray you keep each one in perfect health, giving them wisdom directly from You, and the courage to follow Your voice. I extend my shield to protect each one making decisions over the lives and wellbeing of the people all over the world. I trust You. I raise my shield and believe You will put an end to the enemy's plans in Jesus name. Amen!
