Warriors Arise: April 20th, 2020
The women find the disciples in Luke 24:11, "And their words seemed to them like idle tales and they did not believe them." In the midst of a world-wide coronavirus crisis, we have people who listen to the reports of the death toll and those infected, yet reason with their own mind and conclude "seems to me like idle tales and I do not believe them." The coronavirus is real and it is a threat. Sadly, those who have reasoned in their own mind this is just idle tales, so the President can control us, our jobs, our livelihood, and our freedom would sadly be mistaken just like the disciples.
The women were telling the truth. The disciples needed to remember what Jesus told them before He went to Jerusalem, before He died on the cross for their sins. Jesus tried countless times to communicate to the disciples what was going to happen. Oddly, the High Priest remembered what Jesus said which is why he had Pilate seal the tomb and post guards. Even if Jesus did come back to life, the High Priest did not want the tomb opened! And why wouldn't he want Jesus to return to life? Because then he would have to face the facts that he was responsible for the death of Jesus. Let's face it, we do not like to take responsibility for something we did that was wrong because that would mean we have to admit we were wrong.
Scott and I led a youth conference called "The TRUTH: Can You Handle It." Relevant truth means closely connected or appropriate to what is being done today, while relative truth means there is not absolute truth, truth is subjective not objective. Relevant truth is that the coronavirus is real, causing sickness and death along with causing people to be disagreeable and uncooperative. You can believe the relevant truth and follow the quarantine process or you can believe relative truth; because it isn't happening to me, I don't believe it is happening at all.
The women were telling the disciples relevant truth, Jesus is alive! He has risen! He will meet you in Galilee. The disciples chose to believe relative truth, Jesus didn't appear to us; therefore, you are telling idle tales. Sadly, too many people are thinking like the disciples, "it seems to me" that the coronavirus either isn't real or it isn't as bad as they say. Therefore, they put others at risk.
Warriors we must arise and pray for the relevant truth to be applied to all human beings. Too many have been put at risk, even lost their lives because we do not believe the coronavirus is as big a deal as it truly is. We need to pray people will stay home, especially those who have been around someone who is sick or having symptoms themselves.
God, we have been warned about the coronavirus and yet people do not believe how deadly it can be or how quickly it can spread. Your Word tells us the Holy Spirit will guide us, lead us in the way that is right. Your Word says You will protect us. I declare today Your Word to be relevant in my life. I ask for Your protection from those who are not making wise choices. I pray for those who are blinded by their own thoughts to have their minds opened to the truth. I pray they do not have to find out by experiencing the Coronavirus. I ask for each one to have their eyes opened to the truth of how deadly this virus is. I pray for You to intervene. For those who do not believe in the severity of this virus, I ask You to open their heart and mind to seeing the truth. People are dying. Family and friends are mourning. Turn our heart of stone into a heart moved with compassion for Your people. I pray for each person who is being arrogant with their choices to be convicted of their pride, to see how their decisions are causing the lives of others to be at risk. I pray for the ignorant to know what the symptoms are for the coronavirus and to remain home to self quarantine. I pray for You to make Yourself known to each one.
We humble ourselves before You. You are the only One who can put a stop to the coronavirus. People are dying everyday who do not know You. Many are going to hell. Just like the disciples who did not believe You were risen from the dead, they didn't believe either, at least not right away. These people who do not know You, what Your Son did to save their lives, I ask for You to make Yourself known to them. Just as You did to the disciples. I ask for You to send Your Holy Spirit to minister to the sick. I ask for Your messenger angels to testify of the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. I ask for each one who is infected with the coronavirus to set their eyes on You. You are the only one who can deliver them. I ask for You to kill every germ from the coronavirus.
We are Your people. We are calling out to You. We are asking for You to reveal the truth of the situation to the arrogant and the ignorant. We are asking You to open the hearts and the minds of people all over the world to the saving grace of Jesus Christ. People are getting restless. We need Your Holy Spirit to bring self control, peace, and patience. Just because we do not want to be a people who operate in patience doesn't mean we don't need it. I ask today for self control, peace, and patience. Give us the the ability to endure, to make the very best of this world-wide crisis in Jesus' name amen!
