In the Room

Warriors Arise: December 7, 2023

Matthew 6:6 But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.

This verse has been incredibly helpful. My mother has been a wonderful example of one who is in relationship with God through prayer. She knows how to enter into the courts of heaven and petition God. As a child, I would walk by her room and hear her pray on a daily basis. I knew exactly where she got her strength. She went to the Lord.

As a child, when I would be overwhelmed I would go into my room and shut the door. I would flop on my bed and cry. I didn't want anyone to hear me, so my face would be buried in my pillow. Many times I didn't have words. My heart didn't know how to put things into words. I would start praying and then not know exactly what I wanted to ask God.

God heard every one of my prayers. He heard the ones I prayed out loud and those my heart couldn't even organize into words. It wasn't until years later when I truly realize how many times He entered the room. He filled it with His love and peace that would settle my breaking heart.

There is power in the shut door. Shut out the enemy, stop the whirling of disctructive thoughts, expose the depth of pain I was feeling and receive from Father. He will come. When He comes, healing is given, peace of mind alleviates the stress, and strength gives us what we need to rise and continue. Stay in the room until you have received exactly what you need. The Father knows. The Father will come. You will receive peace. You will receive strength.

Father, I enter into our room. I position myself before You. It is in Your grace and love know You are coming. I trust You to meet me in our room. I will wait on You. I will receive from You. I will share the depths of my soul and receive Your wisdom, strength and peace in Jesus' name amen.
