I Have Something to Say

Warriors Arise: January 26, 2024

Matthew 6:27 Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?

I had to look up stature because I totally had the wrong definition for this verse in my mind! LOL! I thought stature meant height which is the second definition. Not many want to add 12-18 inches (cubit) to their height, not even my husband. Eighteen inches would put him at 6'7". I would still love every inch of him.

The first definition of stature means maturity, age, length of time. We have a choice how healthy or unhealthy we live our life. We have a choice in what we do with what we have been given. We have a choice in how we act and respond. We have a choice in our attitude. We have a choice in the relationships we invest. However, we cannot add time through worrying about life.

What does worry do to the time we do have?

It steals from us. Our mind is occupied on how the "worst case scenario" rather than on the best case scenario. Doctors have to give you the worst case scenario so they do not get sued, but God gives us the best case scenario to stir up our faith. He knows what is possible if we will believe.

Matthew 19:26 But Jesus looked at them and said to them, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

Worry says we are allowing, making the choice for our thoughts to be consumed with the worst case scenario. Therefore, we need to align with God and see what He says. Listen. What does the Lord say? Then align your thoughts with what the Lord says.

  1. Tell yourself, "I am going to believe God."

  2. The next time worry comes around tell yourself, "I told you, I am believing God."

  3. When worry comes knocking at your door again, "I don't have time to open the door, I am with God."

  4. Again, worry catches you off guard but you are going to say, "Oh, that's not an issue. Didn't you hear? God showed up and all is well."

My Father in heaven, hallowed be Your Name. I will praise You for all the wonderful things You have done. I will praise You for getting me through the thought times. I will shout out my praise for You have done it again. You have demonstrated Your love and delivered me from the clutches of worry. Your strength and sustained me and brought me through. I will worship You for Your faithfulness and lovingkindness in Jesus' name amen.
