Matthew 5: 43-45 “You have heard that it was said, You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.

What is the point of this? Why does Jesus follow with "for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good and sends rain on the just and on the unjust"? I have quoted a particular section a number of times. When you need rain, it is a good thing, but when you don't need rain, it comes too hard, ruined your outside event, or soaks you to the bone, in those times, rain isn't your friend.

I really do not like to hear complaining. I do not like when people are constantly negative or trying to play the victim. Life is hard. I get it. I have not had an easy life, but who really has? There isn't one person who has had an easy life. Just listen and you will always find someone who has had a more trouble in life than you or I. Can you learn to dance in the rain?

All of us have to face troubles at some point in our life. As God's children, as Christians, we are to face our's differently.

  • If we complain just like the non-believer then what is the difference between us and them?

  • If we are constantly negative like the non-believer then what is the difference between us and them?

  • If we are playing the victim because bad things happened to us, again, like the on-believer, then what is the difference between us and them?

Truly, I get it. Life is hard and it can seem like you never get things to move in your favor. It seems like everything is an uphill battle. And it might be. BUT, as God's children, we have access to the One who can either remove the hill or give us the strength to rise to the top of the hill.

Yes, it rains on the just and the unjust. However, you and I, as God's children should be able to dance in the rain.

  • We know that we are going to make it out of the rain.

  • We know God is working things out in our favor even if we can't see it.

  • We know He is making a way when there doesn't seem to be a way.

  • We know He will cause the work of our hands to prosper.

  • We know He will lead us through the dark times and bring us out into the light.

  • We know in our weakness, He is strong.

  • We know there is power in the name of Jesus.

  • We know the prison doors can't contain us.

  • We know the pit can't capture us.

  • We know the stars of the enemy will be thwarted by our God.

  • We know He goes before us and leads us into triumph.

I can dance in the rain even when I am getting soaked to the bone! My God is working all things out for my favor. I will praise His glorious name! Hallelujah, Jesus reigns in the rain! Amen!
