Warriors Arise: April 14, 2024
Matthew 8:28 & 29 When He had come to the other side, to the country of the Gergesenes, there met Him two demon-possessed men, coming out of the tombs, exceedingly fierce, so that no one could pass that way. And suddenly they cried out, saying, “What have we to do with You, Jesus, You Son of God? Have You come here to torment us before the time?”
Yikes! I think I would have jumped out of my skin! These two demon-possessed men come running at Jesus while we are getting out of the boat. That would be enough to cause me to get back into the boat. If that wasn't enough, they suddenly cried out! Who else would have the heebie-jeebies?
Those demons thought more highly of themselves that they ought. Jesus wasn't coming to torment them, He was coming to free the two men from their control. I truly delight in the fact that the demons are afraid of Jesus. They are in fear of Judgement Day. They know how the story ends. It isn't going to go well for them.
How does that shift your thinking?
If we are willing to allow the Holy Spirit to open our eyes, we can identify a demonic presence. You don't have to seek them out. It is being aware as the Holy Spirit reveals demonic presence. I am not "one of those," who believes there is a demon under every rock. If I did, I know math well enough that the reason there is a demon under every rock is because two angels are sitting on top of it. Scriptures tells us that we crush the enemy underneath our feet. You, plus two angels equal demon crushing. It may not be the simple, but it is the outcome (Romans 16:20).
As a believer in Jesus Christ, having made Him Savior and Lord of your life, means Christ is in you. In Christ, you carry the authority and power to remove or crush demonic strongholds. In my flesh, I get the heebie-jeebies, but in my spirit, I know Christ in me is enough to crush Satan underneath my feet.
My Father in heaven, hallowed be Your Name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. I come before You today know You are my strength. It is Your power me. Sometimes people act out around me because of the demons haunting them. I pray I would not be overcome in my flesh and leave them tormented, but that I would act upon the Spirit of God within me and extend freedom into their lives. You are with me. I am never alone. Your love is for me and embrace Your strength. You guide and direct me path. You send me in the line of people who need to be set free by Your word. I release Your power to bring freedom to others in Jesus' Name, amen.
