Heaven came Down

Warriors Arise: December 25, 2023

Matthew 6:9 & 10 In this manner, therefore, pray:

Our Father in heaven,

Hallowed be Your name.

Your kingdom come.

Your will be done

On earth as it is in heaven.

This is so wonderful how God leads us to Scriptures for our day. As we focus on the last phrase of verse 10, I am in awe of God. "On earth as it is in heaven," Jesus came to earth and ruled here on earth with the same authority He has in heaven. Jesus is on earth as He was and is again in heaven.

I think of the song, "Heaven came down and glory filled my soul..." Jesus came down to earth. As it is in heaven so the will of God be done on earth. Jesus is the reigning King in heaven. He came to earth to show us how to live victorious. He reigns over earth when He sacrificed His life for us. He showed great power when He hung upon that cross. He reigned even in Satan's realm. He took from Satan those who believed in Him and escorted them to heaven.

Today, is the designated day to celebrate the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, who was in heaven, came to earth and returned to heaven to prepare a place for us. His entire life reveals how we can live our life in victory over whatever life throws at us.

Today, is the day we celebrate HIs coming and His purpose. As it says in Isaiah 61:1-3

“The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon Me,

Because the LORD has anointed Me

To preach good tidings to the poor;

He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,

To proclaim liberty to the captives,

And the opening of the prison to those who are bound;

To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD,

And the day of vengeance of our God;

The day heaven came to earth, Jesus as a baby, began the year of the favor of the LORD. His reign will never end. We celebrate the coming of the rigging King to earth. We celebrate His victory in heaven, on earth and over Satan. Jesus came to free us from captivity.

There is no one held captive in heaven. Because Jesus came to earth, each one of us have the opportunity to be free of Satan, his demons. It doesn't mean they won't pester us and try to entice us to sin, but they have not power over us unless we yield to them. Jesus followed the will of God. As He was in heaven, He was here on earth. Satan tempted Jesus but He didn't take the bait. He didn't yield to Satan. He expanded His territory. No longer was he only the King of heaven, within thirty-three years publically He became the King of kings here on earth. This is something to celebrate today, the day we recognize as heaven, Jesus, coming down to earth.

My Father, who is in heaven, You are holy and just. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Thank You, Jesus, for coming to earth. Your sacrifice is more than I can comprehend. I stand in awe of You. Thank You for coming to deliver me from bondage. Thank You for coming to heal me; body, soul and spirit. I worship You. You are the King of heaven and the King of kings here on earth. Thank You for choosing to come to earth and expanding Your territory here on earth. This is the year of the favor of the LORD in Jesus' name amen.
