Crossover Part 6

Joshua 3:9-11 (NKJV) So Joshua said to the children of Israel, “Come here, and hear the words of the Lord your God.” 10 And Joshua said, “By this you shall know that the living God is among you, and that He will without fail drive out from before you the Canaanites and the Hittites and the Hivites and the Perizzites and the Girgashites and the Amorites and the Jebusites: 11 Behold, the ark of the covenant of the Lord of all the earth is crossing over before you into the Jordan.

We are very fortunate because we have the Old Testament and the New Testament. Therefore, we can apply both of them to our lives. The people who lived through the Old Testament did not have Jesus with them nor the Holy Spirit guiding them. In the Old Testament, the Spirit of God came upon people, like Samson, and then lifted. God walked with Enoch every day and the presence of God was on the Mercy Seat on the Ark of the Covenant. We have access to the Bible, both the Old and New Testament. When I read Joshua 3:11 it makes me think of a New Testament verse.

2 Corinthians 2:14 (NKJV) Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place.

Paul is teaching the people in Corinth. I imagine him about to tell this part of history with Joshua and the children of Israel. Because Paul had been a Pharisee of Pharisees, he would have known the children of Israel's history, his history, very well. Paul also knew what God did for them He will do for the Corinthians. Paul, who was previously known as Saul, had gone through his own experience of hearing God speak to him. He knows from his own past, that God will not hold your past decisions against you. It is what you choose today that matters today.

Returning to Joshua and the children of Israel, God wants the people to know He will lead them into triumph. He delivered them from slavery to bring them into their inheritance, their own land, the Promised Land. He would lead them. He was not sending them. He was leading them. Knowing God will lead you into triumph should compel us to follow Him without reservation.

Joshua 3:11 Behold, the ark of the covenant of the Lord of all the earth is crossing over before you into the Jordan.

Father, I trust You. There are numerous examples in the Bible demonstrating Your desire to be with us, to lead us, to go before us, to make a way. I know Your Word says You will do this for Your people. I am Your child. When You send me, You go before me. You make a way. I will seek You, listen for You, and follow You. I do not know what is on the other side, what will happen tomorrow. The children of Israel did not know what to expect. They had fought in battle but had not taken the land. You know what this year holds. I want You leading me. I have prepared and sanctified myself to follow You. We are needing You to step into this year with us. We need You to guide our country. We need You to make jobs available. We need Yo to open up the prison of isolation. We are thankful for the vaccine. We have prayed for a vaccine without negative side effects. We have prayed for those who are still battling the coronavirus to be healed, in Jesus' name. We continue to pray for people to get their jobs back or a better job. We pray each person would seek You and say, "Yes" to You. I pray they would follow You and embrace what You have for them. You are so good to make a way in the midst of the mess. We do not look to the government to free us from the enemy. We look to You. We position our hearts to be faithful in following You and our minds to embrace Your plan. You are leading us into triumph in Jesus' name, amen.
